Hi CU,
I picked up several commemoratives yesterday, including the Lafayette dollar below. As I purchased them online, I'd be interested in thoughts and grade guesses on this:
Thanks,

count me in as an outlier I guess. 58, but a very nice looking 58

I was actually debating 58 vs 62 and figured it was one of those sliders that slid in to the 62 grade.
63.

Really lovely clean Lafayette... AU 58, I think I see minimal rub on Washington's cheek and some evidence of brief circulation in the fields

I have had similar come back "AU Details, Cleaned"- which I hope it does not.
Well, just Love coins, period.

Love the toning and originality. I'll guess either a 58 or 63.

Average of the 13 guesses was 61.8. Actual grade is MS60:
Thanks for participating.

Wow, that’s an unusual grade for an attractive coin!
And, a rather rare grade. There are 434 graded AU58 and 591 graded MS62, but only 62 graded MS60.

You don't see many 60's. Beautiful coin! 👍

Can you explain why it didn’t grade higher?
It probably has numerous hairlines that didn't show up in the pics. Graders hate hairlines.

Hi Les - based on a few of the comments, there may be some minimal rub and evidence of very light circulation. Personally, I love the toning and luster. I plan to send it to CAC so there is more to come.
Thanks,
Tim
That is a gorgeous coin. Even being a 60 that piece has great eye appeal. I’ve been looking for one for a few months now. Many of them are unattractive regardless of grade IMO
Thanks Zach. I'll post of a few pictures when I have it in hand.
