The Senorita looks like a younger version of Morgan's dollar design.

I feel bad voting for a 10 year old. Peace dollar is the only remaining option...

Is she truly 10 if so I retract my vote. I thought she was in her early 20's. Why would the original poster do such a topic with a possible minor as an option?

I have a young teenage niece and the girl on the coin looks 20 to me but if I am wrong then this topic should be closed. That is not OK and gross.

I messaged the OP he should delete this topic.

I think the Peace and Morgan faces look like they’re under 20 too. Anyone who wants to give me their offensive coins I’ll be more than happy to take them. 🤔😂

Is she a minor or not? If they are minors this topic should be deleted that is just common sens.

I would assume not. This is a nation's coinage and it would be foolish to model it on minors.

That is what I figured an innocent post. These days we have to be careful. Like you I have no idea of their ages.

Probably it's a good idea that no teenage girls modeled for coins in the 1980s. ;)

Poofy hair and big bangs would trump Flowing hair every day of the week.

Wow. This topic got weird real quick. I assumed we were talking about the portrait on the two coins presented. Based on my original assumption, The Peace dollar has too large a nose that appears to have been broken at some point. The Libertad has a much more pleasing profile.

  • Mr_SpudMr_Spud Posts: 4,220 ✭✭✭✭✭

I never really liked the hair on 1921 peace dollars, the least well struck ones remind me of Medusa’s hair made out of snakes, so I voted for the other one.

@FrankH Thanks for sharing your example, I never seen that particular type. The original photos make the coin's proportions (large dentils and portrait) appear dime-sized, but it is even cooler that it is a peso.

Absolutely ridiculous where this thread went and devolved to. The original post was innocent and relevant to U.S. Coins (and Non-U.S.) and their design. I had no problem with it and it was interesting.

Lots of different versions of liberty are very pretty, but that has always been my very favorite. 👍

They even did a good job on the 2007 first spouse with that design.

Personally, I have to vote for Teresa Cafarelli de Francisci if selecting from the two. IMO she was a gorgeous woman. But, I am also married to a beautiful Italian woman, so... I guess she's my "Type" :p .

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

I want to thank the op for this discussion. I will also overlook the crazed commentary, everyone goes nuts once ( or more). I never saw the Mexican coin before and it was interesting to view it and compare. Have never been a Peace Dollar fan due to the poor striking issues leading to terribly weak details. I am also not a fan of the Mexican coin either. But this was a fascinating comparison nonetheless
