When I acquire this coin my collection would be: complete, finished,…

Perfect, lackluster, leaves a lot to be desired and/or….?

Seeing that this coin sold for $57,600 in 7/23 against a $75,000 value will tell you something...........
    Still a very rare bird
    Good luck

Nice, desirable key date Morgan. My collection, probably just about everyone else on this forum, will never be complete...always upgrading.

1895's come extremely well made, and while expensive, they are not that hard to find. The price curve is so flat for these, that unless you are in love with the look of that one, I would wait and get a nicer looking one.

So your collection is Morgan proofs rather than business strikes?

    When in doubt, don't.

My collection consists of mostly keys & semi keys Mercs, WLHs & Morgan dollars.

I was asking the forum to give me their thoughts on it.

For a PR62 I guess it is fine, below are the HA images (top set) and PCGS TV (bottom)-

I’d be really happy with that one. Many people who collect business strike Morgans like to add the 1895 proof, because of the fact that no business strikes were made in Philadelphia that year. I understand the thought process and it makes sense. 👍

I can think of thousands of coins I would rather own. Of course, too many to mention here.

Hard to tell from the photo. Proof coins not easy to view on a screen.

Just a thought, crack it out, give it a professional dip. It just might release the deep mirrors hidden below the tarnish......

I've found the coin I've been wanting to buy for the last eight years, but it's in strong hands and not going anywhere. And it's not the kind of coin I can just happen to find.

The $64,000.00 question. My thoughts ? Less than perfect, greater than lackluster , highly desirable and out of my reach.

Ever a hole. Always a spot.
To fill or not to fill ? That is the question.

This thread goes to show you beauty is in the eye of the beholder. As a PR62, I like this coin quite a bit and would be very happy to have it in my collection.

I think it boils down to budget and desire to own this date. I have neither. I think it's a decent looking coin. It really doesn't look beat up for a 62.

It's easier to do it with someone else's 5 figure coin.

    For a 62 that's a great looking coin!

For a 65, no. I'm not sure why people are having a hard time with it.

That being said, when you're looking at price guide differences, it's only a 20% difference in price to get a 64, so maybe it's smarter to get a nice 64 for not much more money (comparatively speaking, I know it's another 10k)

I'm BACK!!! Used to be Billet7 on the old forum.

Highly desirable rare coin with pricetag to match... I think the toning (haze) is what's holding this particular piece back. The TV shows darker fields... and I would hope the mirrored fields are more evident with coin in hand. The cheek is remarkably free from contact marks... for a 62.

I like it... but like most things in life... depending on the price... for a 5-figure coin...

Not a fan of the muted luster but still looks super clean for a 62.
I'd take it for the price.
