I would, but not crazy about New York. Great show, however.
I might actually be able to attend for a few hours on Friday.

Not crazy about NY either, and I live here. I'll be going
Always wanted to go to one. Maybe in 2025!

We will be set up at our usual table! Friday afternoon we are going to have another 'happy hour' at 4 Pm at our table for anyone from the forum who wants to attend, just shoot me a PM or email ahead of time so I can make sure I have enough beverages!

Perfect. I'll stop by your table for happy hour at 4, and you can stop by my table for happy hour at 5!
Any volunteers for the 3 PM slot?

I may spend a day at the show by taking the bus into the Port Authority terminal.
As I first time visitor I am wondering if PCGS will be present for on site grading.

I'll be there!
I will be there again this year (and will absolutely attend both happy hours!). It’s a wonderful experience
I’ll be there Tuesday through Sunday 😄

I'll be there on Friday. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Picked up this little beauty from Justin this week. Love the grade!

“MS 63 63.”??
Lovely coin, curious label
No onsite grading. They will be there to ship back submissions only.
Do you have any other choice? You REALLY do not want to go through Port Authority bus terminal. Its just ... not nice
From Pennsylvania its either drive and park or take the bus. The drive is stressful not to mention the delay at the Tunnel. I am familiar with the Port Authority terminal as I often had Federal agency business at 26 Federal Plaza. I cannot imagine it is much worst that the 1980's and 1990's. It is a given not to use the restrooms - just head to the street as soon as possible.

An MS6363 has to be top pop, by like 6,296 grades, right?

Also, the show announced some (very wise) security upgrades:
My guess is the lines will be pretty insane especially on Friday, so it would probably be very smart to do the online registration or get there super early

Sadly no. It was an 'interesting' year. Wish I could.
I am planned to fly in.

I haven't been to a coin show in 3 years....
Missed the 1st Frankfurt Numismata to be held after Corona because of our Florida vacation.
Now I will miss the FUN show in Orlando because we are flying back to Europe soon.
Good guys just can't win it seems....
I was unable to make it work either... hopefully some that attended will provide some commentary...

I thought this convention was well attended . Both older and younger collectors /numismatists converged on the bourse and the participation in the auctions were there as seen by prices realized .
There were considerable YN’s … many of which are us coin collectors who trying to learn about foreign coins . I appreciated meeting them personally and encouraged them that when it comes to collecting coins that the world is your oyster.
There was, from my point of view, interest in gold . Modern slabbed gold sold fairly well and easily as well as more classic gold from France Belgium Mexico and anything
nice for the grade .
Crowns are always popular and crowns are what Chinese collectors are looking for ….for the most part .
I was told this by a Chinese dealer attending and Sam Spiegel from heritage .
Which makes me think really nice classic minors are an opportunity to buy on the cheap . Don’t get me wrong there were buyers of minors .
I thought CNG did an amazing job with their auction as most of their auction lots are raw. Very attentive staff and professional numismatists .
I sat with Mark Teller through that auction
The guy is an unbelievable resource of information, his connections are boundless, and he his funny to talk with .
Speaks 5 languages .
Zohar flew in from Tel Aviv and we had dinner together and watched online most of the Stacks Friday night at the restaurant we ate at .
He is very knowledgeable about Thalers.
I reluctantly sold him a couple of really nice Thalers … maybe he will share .
We admitted to each other we are coin addicts and tried to size up each other as to our addiction . He thinks I top him .😁
I really enjoyed having dinner with Zohar and getting to know him better.
He has a great future as a collector !!
A lot of ancient coins were offered at bourse and in auctions and there was much interest in them .
I only have a handful but I can see why there is bountiful interest. So much history, variety, and they are plentiful to choose from .
I tried buying a cap & ray 1869 ca mm in PCGS 63 at stacks auction which I needed for my registry but I gave up and yielded to the icon who wrote RESPLANDORES.
Coin collecting is and has always been a hobby to me . Meaning, I don’t care much whether or not i make or lose money on resale . The joy of collecting is what’s fun .
Frankly I get as much joy holding and looking at a $50 coin as I do a 100k coin.
Note the word I used ….joy .
I branched out and bought some other coins at auction ….3 of which were from India and one from Great Britain.
I deliberately overpaid to get two very rare coins from two other dealers that I will post later .
I also bought some Mexican gold medals from Stacks last evening and other gold coins as well.
At least gold coins are plentiful to pick and choose from . I had been buying and keeping modern gold since gold was a lot lower . I decided to sell some now that gold was over 2000 oz.
I think someone buying select gold coins today from different countries would be a lot of fun and also payoff in the future.
I took advantaged of PCGS 1/4ly special
5 regular , 15 economy, and 5 crossover.
We’ll see .
I met with my reps at Stacks and Heritage and consigned to them . Also consigned to GC some modern crowns .
I thought the hotel here is a nice venue to have this show and they tightened up security from last year .
The weather wa decent except for one day of rain .
My son is a great help to me at these shows . He speaks fluent Russian .
I have been here a full week now and considered this past week a vacation .
It flew FAST …
I guess I am a coin addict 🤓

Looking forward to seeing your purchases.
My current "Box of 20"
Good show, I was only in for a day and a half but I was able to make a fair number of purchases. Always nice to see my friends from Europe and elsewhere. Here’s a Scottish 12 Shillings of Charles I that I acquired:

Nice, thank you for sharing, I am new at world coins, I have a few and this forum has helped me to learn
@bidask Thanks for the kind words, time spent together and selling me the coins (both of which are not in my core area of Habsburgs)!. Let me image them properly and share. I enjoyed the show very much and will try to be here next year!

I was there on Friday. The show had a buzz that I hadn't heard/seen since before COVID. Was able to find a few nice Canadian tokens to study. And bought this beautiful set from Justin:
I've seen / owned individual pieces of this set. This is the first time seeing a complete set in the box with the papers. Had to buy it .
Nice to see Justin, Bill, Dan, Josh, Andy and others.

Nice reviews and purchases, everyone!
I was able to make it to the show on Friday. Kent Ponterio has been going through a massive 3,000+ coin hoard of chopped portrait Mexico 8 Reales and he set aside a few coins that he knew I would love. What's amazing is the sheer number of different varieties he was able to pull out of that hoard. They are all chopped and would not straight grade, but all are rare or previously undocumented.
I ended-up purchasing the following:
1777/6 (R2)
1786/5 (R3)
1789/8 (R3)
1793/2 (Unlisted)
1799/8 (Unlisted)
1803/2 (Unlisted)
1806/5 (x2 different obverse dies) (Listed in Cayon and Calbeto, Unlisted in Yonaka)
1810 HJ/TH (different reverse die than i have) (R2)
Needless to say, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. A lot more documenting of these to come once work calms down a bit. And perhaps a submission to get some new registry slots created in the Carlos III and Carlos IV date and variety sets.
After chatting with Kent and a short chat with Mike D about another neat variety I found (albeit only images of that one), I also did a cursory walkthrough of the bourse to say hi to Andy, Justin, Josh, EVP, Arty, Zohar, @bidask 's son and a few others and headed to the airport to catch an earlier flight home to avoid being stuck in NY due to a pretty bad winter storm approaching Toronto.
Edit: forgot to mention that when I got to the hotel on Thursday evening, met Chris Ortega and a couple of other Stack's folks, as well as a wonderful couple I have been following on IG but never met before in person: Vera and Ivan.

Anyone buy the $3m British coin from the The King of Coins ? I told them my price range was more appropriate for The Baron of Coins, if he was around
No worries! It was a short stint for me and it was great meeting your son and his friend. There's always USMEX in October
