Edited to add: I’d be surprised by a details grade or a straight grade below AU50. Either this is a very tough crowd or I’m loosey-goosey in my grading of this coin.

This coin appears to me to have been in the ground for who knows how many decades, OR, it has been somewhat harshly cleaned. XF details, net VF.

-Albert Einstein-Mistakes are natural. But repeated mistakes without reflection are something else. That may be the “stupidity” he was referring to. In research, he admitted uncertainty openly. “If we knew what it was we were doing, it would not be called research, would it?” This shows humility. Even a Nobel laureate accepted doubt. That humility makes the quote less cynical and more observational.

I see wear, carbon spotting, a couple of scratches and little luster. Depending on where your budget stands and the top dollar you can live with.......would greatly influence the kind of response......XF47?

This is exactly how I see this coin. Too many circulation hairlines on the obverse to make AU. The coin does not look like it is cleaned to me.
