Hopefully in 2024 I can spend less on gas and food and more on coins.

      • Add one more AU58+ coin to my toned Everyman Peace Dollar registy (4 slots left that aren't AU58+)
      • Fill two holes in my toned Everyman Morgan Dollar registry (4 holes)
      • Complete my toned Seated Half Dollar type set (3 holes)
      • Add 1 Redfield Peace dollar (Paramount red) for a date I don't have
      • Start my toned Seated Dime type set (5 holes)
      • Sell a lot of excess coins that do not enhance my niche collections

Buy 2 to 4 $20 Liberties depending on price.

Throw a coin enough times, and suppose one day it lands on its edge.

To buy as many of the DT Miller DMPL Morgans as I can. Which is probably one of them. If I'm lucky.

Continue to hand pick, and select, nice "junk" silver.

Pick up nice for the grade "cheap" cull silver dollars.

Pretty much continue adding to my 90% stack.

I am planning on upping my finds to 500 silver coins, 1500 wheaties, 100 buffaloes, 10 Vs, and 5 IHCs.
I think that setting a very high goal improves motivation and makes you get more done, even if you don’t make your goal. :)

  • Resolutions:

    • Stop buying cheap problem coins, including album fillers.
    • Figure out how much I'm spending and save it for maybe one much better purchase each month.

Collecting: Cents, Dansco 7070, Half Dollars, 1947, 1976, random pieces I like

Hey! I'm not done with 2023 yet....

I'm supposed to see a group of Spanish Colonial Cobs next Friday before leaving for FUN. I hope to add to my collection one more time before the end of the year.

As for next year, to continue to find interesting things that fit into my collections.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I would like to add 2 or 3 more DOGs this year. Maybe free a couple others to make room.

Add at least one meaningful coin to my core collection. Resist the urge to buy coins that aren’t keepers long term unless for resale.

I'm going to focus less on sets and albums and more on eye-appealing individual coins. Coins with interesting features like die cracks, lathe lines, die polish, etc as well as good luster and color.

Time to sell everything I have collected for 48 years.
    Many top registry sets.
Adios. Getting to old. My whole focus is selling now. Auctions and at shows.
I will post when they are consigned.
May take 3 or four years of constant consignments. Lots of world crowns too.
Stacks Bowers has been selling alot of my slabbed ugraded duplicate / U. S. Philippines for the last 4 years.
This year's New York auction has a bunch of high grades.
Such coins are no longer available on Bourse floors anymore as they were raw in the 80's

I want to finish all the post 1916 slots in my 7070.

Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

Upgrade the 14 coins below VF in my liberty seated quarter collection. Tough goal though since the 14 include the 49-o, 64-s, 66-s, 70-cc, 71-cc, 71-s, 78-s.

Down to 13 now and possibly 12 before 2023 ends.

Scale up sells of silver and gold coins and buy types I’m missing.

This is one of the toughest things for me. It takes a lot of discipline and knowledge.

Nothing is as expensive as free money.

Finish the basic 7070 set - first and last pages are complete, but finding decent fairly priced coins seems to be a constant challenge....

An 1893-S Morgan would be goal #1.

Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Not to consider this hobby an investment, to ensure I'm not disappointed.

Disclaimer: I'm not a dealer, trader, grader, investor or professional numismatist. I'm just a hobbyist. (To protect me but mostly you! 🤣 )

My goal, as it has been for years, is to find nice quality coins that are straight graded and not coins that have problems in straight graded holders!
A real challenge lately. Way too many times the rare coins get a free pass from the TPGs, I'll not give in to this practice.
Buying coins with a CAC sticker will also be a top priority, (as it always has been) to help avoid the problem coins.

  • My goal is to first enjoy the time with my 7 yr. old daughter doing her Lincoln Whitman, and my 11 yr. old son doing his Washington Whitman. Hoping to add a few Morgans, and finally be astute enough to pick up a few coins for grading myself.

BROTHER !! :) Me too. o:) At least I have one settlement check coming the end of this month.. Another box of some stuff went out 2 days ago.
The selling hassle is getting me more in line with selling locally. I do have a good dealer in town. <3

Still can't get to parting with the darkside stuff though. :(

    YET :D
