I just purchased this one a couple of days ago.
I am hoping the doubling is distinct and strong:

So many nickels, so little time. Hard to pick my favorite, but this one is up there. Even though details grade it has decent eye appeal, strong doubling and a full horn not seen on many in this grade of VF.

I own only a couple. Here's one I bought from forum member LeeG in spring of 2006.
I don't have many. I collect them with and for my daughter.
AU-58. Not particularly valuable, but I like it.

Always liked AU55's and these soap bar holders. The coin came with it! 😂 🤣

This is my lowest grade Buffalo but it’s right up there with my 16DDO.

Believe it or not, these photos of my PR67+ 1936 Buffalo UNDERSTATES the luster!!!!! Apparently, when the U.S. Mint chose to resume making Proof coins in 1936, they wanted them to look nice. I believe my coin must have been one of the first struck from newly polished dies!

@winesteven, an outrageously beautiful Proof Buffalo Steve.
I am not a big Buffalo Nickel guy, but this one is my favorite. It's the 1936 Satin Finish Proof. For me this piece provides the best example of the design. The surfaces on the Brilliant Proofs is too distracting.

Brilliant Proof
I guess the luster on the below coin makes this design distracting?

For the 1936 and '37 Proof Buffalo Nickels it does. Those coins are unusually bright. Generally I prefer the Brilliant Proofs to the Matte Proofs, but the 1936 Satin Buffalo Nickel is the exception.
Oddly enough the private artists who re-designed U.S. coins in the early 1900s agreed. They thought that the brilliant finish was "garish and distracted from their artwork." That was one of the main reasons why the Philadelphia MInt started issuing Matte Proofs when the new designs were brought on-line.
I have both coins as part of a complete 1936 Proof set. It's just I prefer the Satin piece.
Because of what it is, how can anybody NOT like it?
Pete

I have far prettier Buffalos as well as higher graded Buffalos. But try to find this rare date with a decent strike and problem free in an MS63 grade. You'll quickly see why I love this piece.
This might be my second favorite.
