Verdi Care results...4 Indian Head Cents, it went well. Straight graded

KurisuKurisu Posts: 2,020 ✭✭✭✭✭

I recently posted the results of my Indian Head Cents freshly back from ANACS.

I just wanted to share this separately. Because every one of them was Verdi Care treated and they all straight graded.
Took me a bit to find the pre-treated images.

I treated them with the Verdi Care in March 2022, gently dabbed them off with paper towels and let them sit since then exposed to air in my coin cabinet.

Here are the results...before and then after and graded...

Nice. The only thing I know about copper is mostly what I read here. Going through my box of stuff I also found a 1908 S with some crud and green on it. I was thinking about trying one of the vegetable oils. That looks much better but not sure I want to buy a whole bottle for one coin. :/

I use verdicare on any copper coin that I by online to remove any contaminates that might be on it
as you never know what environment it has been in. It does not hurt them and it seems to provide some sort of protective coating.

I use it sparingly and have had excellent results. All the copper I've used it on for submissions have come back straight graded.

I get impressive results with Verdi. It loosens and lifts goop off coins with no change in surface color and condition. The 1oz bottle is worth it. Good luck. Peace Roy

I don't think so but I've been using it for a while now. Haven't felt the need to tout it's use.

Can you describe how you apply it to the rest of us? Do you soak then wipe off? Do you gently roll it on and wipe off? Does the same apply to higher grade(MS) coins?

This thread prompted me to order a bottle of Verdi-Care from eBay. I have a few LCs in need of treatment.

    Smitten with DBLCs.

You can use it selectively or even just on one side from what I've heard.

I tend to put just enough in a container to fully submerge the coin.
It works very quickly. If there is some serious green crud build up you will be able to gently pick it off with a toothpick.
I don't rinse them afterwards, I just swish them around for a moment and then use a clean cotton cloth to gently press on both sides to dry the coin.
The coin will still have a somewhat wet/oiled appearance and will dry in a few hours.
I simply set these on a small piece of acid free mounting board in my coin cabinet protected from dust and turned them over after a day or two...they sat for well over a year like that.

Attached are some good instructions from Verdi Chem...

Will have to try it on a few lower grade coins before stepping it up, thanks!
