Have you by any chance been watching videos that tell you there are valuable "error coins" to be found in your spare change?
The only people who make money on this concept are the people being paid for views of their video.
The good news is that all you lost was some of your time.
You can still spend that spare change.
Yes I sure do , I've always had a pretty good eye for finding them , my dad had three paper routes for13 years, we went through the change every day, Had great collection ammo can full of silver coins, step family stole it.

This DIME was with some coins I had in my peanut butter bart Simpson Treasure Chest, in it, setting in my safe, I would put coins inI set aside, setting for six years in storage, , I pulled some out to look at and they were like this dime but not as bad, I put it in a Bowl with a couple other coins that looked like tar, grease or gum, pretyy tarnished , blue green , colors etc, well, I was walking by the table , still excited about the Dime I posted today on Poceket Find , above 20?? D, , I picked it up out of the bowl , and a Chunk of Tar, Grease was stuck on it , I pissed on it and it popped off, I looked at my fingers, they were all sparkly, I looked at the piece and noticed it was metal, I grabbed my magnifiers, and WOW https://photos.app.goo.gl/1MhBjFXK97PT1b137
The updated comment above , seven photos, the first was the 20?? D Dime.
Got more Major Finds to Post, working on photos now, will add some this morning, 12/05/23

Welcome, looking forward to seeing your collection. Itβs good that you post them in one thread. it will make a nice archive. You are good at ignoring the distracting comments from the pros, but collecting does require some reading, as well.
Here are threads from people with similar skills and interests.
OP, I think I have a good idea for you..
This place, unfortunately, has very few who are interested in these "errors". New posters stop in constantly with their latest discovery and get nothing for their trouble but snark.
What if you took all the errors you've found and auctioned them on ebay every week, starting at $.99 (free shipping).
Then return to the forum once a week with your market report.
Of you did this diligently, over time you might aquire an ebay following, and the folks here would definitely appreciate your effort and look forward to your posts?
Plus you could become the defacto forum expert on pocket change/parking lot errors and respond to the other newbs who come after with a certain level of expertise and forum gravitas?

Did I Find a Fortune Today, is it Rare, or just keep lOOking.
No need to keep looking - you are never going to find anything that is rare or worth a fortune.
That is not necessarily true, for while searching coins & bills I have found several great things, such as a semi-key 1871 shield nickel worth $70-100 and a 1929 $10 Boston Federal Reserve Bank Note worth ~ $50-80.
God bless all who believe in him. Do unto others what you expect to be done to you. Dubbed a "Committee Secret Agent" by @mr1931S on 7/23/24. Founding member of CU Anti-Troll League since 9/24/24.
I am also newer to coins. I can tell you that starting with errors is a very difficult and frustrating way to enter numismatics. One needs to know very much about the minting process (and how those processes have changed over time) to understand what is happening on a coin. I instead suggest learning a series and it's nuances, keys and varieties. I also suggest you learn quality by looking at as many coins as possible. This does not mean you need to spend a lot of money, but time in study will help you a lot. Otherwise, you are likely to end-up with a mountain of damaged, face-value coins.
People here are nice and willing to help. But if you continuously post these coins... people will tire. It would be like you answering a friend who asks you every few seconds if they solved a Rubik's Cube (but they have their eyes closed). It just get's frustrating after a while.
I do wish you luck and a warm welcome to the hobby. There is a LOT to learn, so I recommend NOT making it harder on yourself by starting with errors.
Again - good luck!
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

Slightly misaligned die strike, but not enough to add any value. Everything else is damage.
