    Howdy and welcome.

It's been a busy night here with new folks and questions. Your coin likely either has toned to a very light brassy color or it was plated after it left the US Mint. Sometimes folks do this in science classes and other times for jewelry. A less likely scenario is that it was struck on some type of gold colored planchet meant for a coin for another country. If you have any decent scale it should be able to weigh it accurately. The weight should be about 2.5 grams.

Yes, plated with either gold or a gold colored metal. Also could be a science experiment where you can turn a copper cent a golden color then to a silver color. Many videos of that on YouTube

  • Still waiting on scale to arrive. Now that have this, time seems to be dragging!! lol. Thank you for the info! I can now see what you were saying now.

It looks nice and does appear lighter in color than typical. Good luck.

If it was gold you would be able to easily feel the difference in weight when comparing it to another 1994-D or zinc Lincoln cent. It would feel like a door stop by comparison.

Just for the comparison, this 1864 Civil War Token, which was made for the Lincoln re-election campaign, is gold filled (heavy plating).

    This one is gold plated.
