Brainteaser: calling love token experts

PppPpp Posts: 511 ✭✭✭✭

I just picked up an 1890 seated liberty dime love token. I think the design work is very good and I am trying to figure out the letters for the love interest.

I think I see “N”, “M”, and……. Something else I can’t make out.

What letters do you see?

It might be “ZIM”, maybe short for Zimmerman?

I sees a J as the third letter or maybe an F. In what order? I have no idea. Peace Roy

Zachariah Ignatius Monroe. Wild guess. Definitely a Z, I, and M in there. How many names of the day began with Z's and I's?

seriously though, i see ZIA but it would help to know the orientation on the coin. are you flipping it horizontally or vertically? that might give a clue

    I agree with @CaptHenway . Some combination of A I Z.

SteveBen: duh, sometimes I don’t think. I will blame advance age. 😁
I should have given orientation. The reverse is from flipping the coin up.

    Z.A.I.

I believe these are made to read from widest letter to tallest letter. The vast majority are carved in metallic alignment.

The tallest digit, what at first glance appeared to be an "I" has some design along the middle and top of the post. Perhaps the true letters are Z.A.F.

    That's a good point. Could be Z.A.F.
