I've never seen this kind of damage where nothing on the die is disturbed other than gashes. And the back is pristine in comparison. I'm sure it's nothing but wanted to see what you all thought!

That is definitely damage, no question about it.
The obverse shows typical Walmart parking lot damage. Spend it.

Hmmmmm.....
Welcome. I hate it when one side is okay and the other ain't. We understand you, but familiarize yourself with the terms to describe a coin. For example a die is not part of a coin. Stick around.
How about this parking lot find getting slabbed:

Only $25k? Let me find my checkbook.
Yes, but you get free shipping, What a deal!!!!
Gouges on the die would be raised on the coin. Your coin is just damaged.
An error can only occur during the actual striking of the coin.
There is nothing on your cent that would occur at that time
so by default, it is PMD ( Post Minting Damage).
Disagree... the parallel curved marks going down and to the right are obviously indicative of a Burger King parking lot.

PMD
With all of those deep gouges - "Where's the Zinc!"
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Why? Because they're "whopper" marks?
