C.J. Stroud breaks single-game rookie passing yards record in miracle win over Tampa Bay.
If the legend of C.J. Stroud wasn’t forming in earnest prior to Sunday, it just got accelerated in a big way. The former Ohio State and current Houston Texans’ quarterback broke the single-game rooking passing yards record, culminating in a 70-yard 40-second last minute drive to beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 39-37.
Stroud, the No.2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, looked poised all day. All he did was complete 30-of-42 yards for 470 yards, five touchdowns, and no interceptions. The 470 yard effort is the most a rookie quarterback has ever thrown for.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

Remember it was against Tampa Bay. Their defense plays flag football.
tampa or not, that was an incredible game!
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Meanwhile in Carolina....
That game winning drive was fantastic, there was no way I thought Stroud could pull that off!
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Aided earlier in the game by a field goal kicked by a running back! And it was a BEAUTY.
Stroud - who I liked over Young for #1 - is averaging over 280 yards per game and has thrown exactly 1 interception. That's remarkable for anyone let alone a rookie.
I didn't think Stroud or Young was worthy of being picked so high but you just never know who is going to pan out, very fortunate for the Texans.
Stroud sure looks to be the best high QB picked in a long while.
He does it again.
