After the long 10 hour drive, we arrived at the show to begin the set up process at 3 on Wednesday. Many dealers were already there eager to get set up and begin business.
We got our 3 tables set up and had very good dealer to dealer and early bird business start taking place shortly after. All coins seemed to be sought after and I heard quite a bit how dealers were buying to fill holes in there inventory. Dealer to dealer stuff happened for about 3 hours, then we packed up and went to supper.
Thursday morning we arrived early and began more dealer to dealer stuff. There were many holes in our showcases before the public even came in. I will admit that attendance was light on Thursday. I don't know if that was because it was the first time this show was held on a Thursday or not. None the less we conducted a good bit of business when they opened the doors. As soon as the show was over it was our for supper and a celebration as it was my wife's birthday! Many here have met her as she is also a full time dealer and attends every show with me. Supper and drinks and a pretty late night ourlt with friends followed, but was very worth it.
Friday morning came early and soon the doors were opened to the public. Throughout the day Many sales were made, but again it seemed that attendance was lower then expected. Most dealers I talked with Friday said it was slower then they were hoping for but were making some money and selling some coins.
Saturday came and doors opened. The attendance definitely was improved and the Bourse was fairly busy quickly. We had lots of lists being filled and coins being bought and sold. We picked up a ton of new inventory this weekend, and I have pictured a very few of the more interesting things you may find neat. We did buy over 700 coins, but most are just the average run of the mill semi keys and inventory filler so like I said, I only took a few pictures of the stuff I found sort of neat.
There was talking about the Nashville show but honestly I'm not going to say the things I heard, because I was not there to see it myself and see no need to share my opinion on a show I didn't attend. The only thing I will say is most dealers and collectors agree, it was wrong for him to put it against a state show so close that has had the same weekend for decades, especially being a past ANA president whose is suppose to want to better and further the hobby.
The general consensus I heard was that most thought traffic was lighter then expected and sales were not what they were hoping for, but they still did well and made sales. Just not what they were hoping for.
My observations: Tons and tons of slabbed silver eagles, like holy crap those things are everywhere. Metals were moving, but not at the pace I would have expected, with alot of dealers saying the sold very little or none at all. Key dates are still priced high and are starting to stagnate as alot of coins were purchased at the covid price levels and not many dealers are willing to move the coins at lower margins. I've looked at a few coins so many times and the prices are now so high I started taking notes to not look at them again, as it looks like it will be a waste of time. From our end it was a great show and look forward to doing it next year and many years after!

Most show reports now include statements to the effect that many coin prices are very high ... too high. Is there a "correction" coming?
Thanks for your report.
Great report . . . these are super 'data points' that are helping many of us in the understanding of pricing structures, whether collector, dealer, or hybrid of the two.
I agree with 291 fifth above. I am seeing just huge prices at all the venues (see the "Where do you get your inventory?" thread -- those places among others. When I attended the Grand Junction show 10 days ago I took a box of PCGS keys and Type, and got obliterated when I had stuff priced at or near GSB. Most all I saw was 10%-30% above GSB, and there were only two CAC coins on the entire bourse floor.
Not meaning to hijack . . . but 291 has a salient point above . . . . . . . . . .

Thanks for the report! Happy birthday, Casey! Looks like you picked up some neat errors.
"We did buy over 700 coins,...."
Wowee you must have made some other dealers very happy.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
Alot of the 700 was complete and partial sets. Merc dimes, Washington quarters, a few barber sets a lincoln set and indian set, and some more I'm sure I'm forgetting

Thanks for the report and sharing your experiences with the forum.
As a collector, I found the show conveniently located, well attended by friendly and helpful dealers, and an opportunity to focus on specific needs for my type set. I plan to write a separate show report this week. Great Show !!

IMEX should have picked a different date and perhaps their attendance would have been better.
