I bidded on a coin and got rejected. I have never done business with great collections. I need to get some cred with them. I have it with Heritage/Stacks/ legend. PM me me if you have Ian's #. thanks.

I have his user info on MyCollect.
@ianrussell
He's been a frequent poster here, his ID is upthread.
However, their policies and procedures are quite clearly shown on the site, including this:

And the past tense of "bid" is "bid", not "bidded".
And "bidded" is not to be confused with "bidet"!

The customer service at great collections is top notch. If you call the number on their website or email the contact us link, you will get a response. And whoever responds will be an informed person.

Oh crap! That explains why all my bids keep going down the toilet.

Bidding limits for new bidders...
Ian Russell on Mon, Jul 05, 2021 06:41:11 AM
New registered bidders are generally assigned a bid limit of $10,000.00. If you would like your bid limit increased, please contact us at info@greatcollections.com or telephone 1-800-442-6467.
Your bid limit is calculated by adding unpaid invoices, as well as your current secret max bids.
To answer your question in the OP . . .
Just through age and reputation. I started this journey with Doily buying on Teletrade, and Ian was there. As I ventured further, Ian always seemed to be there in positive ways for the hobby. I now have a series of coins at GC, experimenting with the site for the first time in a long time.
He, and the numismatic angles he represents, have always been at the pinnacle of professionalism and personal service. In time, we may recognize him as one of the major numismatic players of the last 50 years.
So . . . I worship him from afar.

@DRUNNER perhaps you could influence him to figure out how to stimulate his new "MyCollect" site.

When I ask for an increase, I just had to provide several places I had bought from, HA, Stacks, etc. My limit was increased far in excess that I would ever use. You shouldn’t have any problems if you have prior references.
Or bidda or bidduh? Like woulda coulda shoulda bidda!
