If that happens and if they develop a solid inside/down low game they will be unstoppable on both offense and defense.
To add 40 - 50 pounds I would think there is no way they would ever be as quick as before. They may get much stronger but I see them getting much slower.

love the look of this card -- with the exception of the streaks in the background. when i scanned it, "what the hell is that" came out of my mouth. then i jet to ebay..........lo and behold, every single 298 has them. not sure what's worse, it's a quality control issue or that's what Panini intended. either way, they look completely out of place and detract from the overall appeal imo. it's a shame, because i love everything else about this card
I think those streaks are a dark curtain that Panini used in the background of multiple diferent Wemby rookies this year. I don't know if they did this with other players too but, man, talk about half assing it lol. if Vic lives up to the hype some of his best first years cards are standing in front of a curtain. 😂

another thing i'm learning about these modern cards with colored borders..........you scan them and sometimes it gives off the impression that corners are touched up, when in reality they aren't. you look at this scan and it appears to be a hatchet job by a PSA grader. but then i hold this card in my hand & take a magnifying glass to it and it's clear that it was graded properly
if there is even a tiny speck of "extra" cardboard or the purple extends 99.99% of the way to the corner but not 100%, a scan can really make a dime look like a near-mint+/mint card

not only is he improving by leaps and bounds, but his increased production has not been in vain...............collectively, the team is playing better basketball

Its a real shame that he won't have any other brands of licensed rookie cards in a Spurs jersey other than Panini. I'd love to see what a Finest or Topps Chrome rc would look like or even Upper Deck with an SP Authentic or even Fleer or Ultra. There used to be such a great assortment of different brands to choose from.

I had no idea that Dynasty was a Topps product and after a little digging came across this ebay listing for a VW Topps Now auto. https://tinyurl.com/yzwpr592 its like Topps added all of that random stuff (cactus/flag/eiffel tower) this time instead of Wemby.
There's an article on the Athletic about him building a strong case for winning DPOY and I'm in agreement. His defense hasn't resulted in a high win total like it has for Rudy Gobert but thats mainly due to SA's lack of real talent around him. At the time the article was written, he was leading the league w/3.4blocks per game to go along with 1.2 steals and even someone with the smallest assemblage of BBIQ could see that most offense want no part of trying to score in the paint when he's on the floor. It kind of reminds me of Deion Sanders or Darrelle Revis back in their heyday when QBs wouldn't even bother throwing in their direction and tried beating you in some other way.
Its going to be interesting to see what he looks like when the team puts better talent around him especially on the defensive end.

i am too. to your point, it's not just about sheer numbers with him. he alters games on the defensive end in a way that cannot be quantified. if i had a dollar for every time a high-percentage shot didn't take place because he was about to send it into the 5th row, i might have enough money to buy another card of his. next thing you know, the ball rotates to someone else while the shot clock is being milked, and a lesser shot is ultimately launched. that's DPOY material.
I'd love to see the Spurs find another rim protecting center in the near future that could start next to Wemby and allow him to roam around as sort of a free safety in the paint. Kind of like what the Bucks do with Giannis/Brook Lopez and like Boston does now with Horford/Porzingis and Horford/RobWilliams before that.
Stick Vic on the opposing team's worst shooter and then give him the freedom to roam around the paint searching for blocks with his help defense. With that other big it doesn't need to be like a Duncan & Robinson situation and offensively he doesn't even need to be a 3pt threat because Wembanyama is already a capable shooter. Just someone whose a better rim protector than Zach Collins,who's a decent defender and would be great as a 3rd big.
Watching the Hawks beat the Celtics twice this week without Trae Young had me thinking of moves they could make this offseason to help improve their roster (yeah I know I'm weird like that lol) and there's been reports that they likely trade DeJounte Murray.
It may make more sense to move off Trae instead and he would seem like a perfect pairing next to Wemby. Atlanta supposedly wants to move on from Clint Capela too and those three seem like they'd all be a good fit. CC averages a double double with over a block a game and could sit in that dunker's spot on offense while Trae would have two bigs behind him that should be able to make up for all of his deficiencies on defense. The real issue would be SA sending back enough salary in deal and for the most part the Spurs would probably just be returning some of Atlanta's own draft picks back.
I tuned in late to the Wemby-Joker matchup last night and Vic just missed out on his first quadruple double finishing just 1 block & 2 assists short. He had two great blocks in a tie game in that last 2-ish minutes including one on Joker at the rim, it would have been great to see it go into OT.

Topps recently posted on IG a sneak peek at Wemby's upcoming Topps Chrome Superfractor (I'm assuming that's his SF.)
Its unlicensed but I prefer the overall look to this TC card better than his Panini Prizm rookie.
Follow up to my last post from above about the Wemby Superfractor, Its been pulled and there's already a 1M bounty on it.
That would be a tough decision to make, cash in for the immediate loot or take the chance that you can multiply that number by X down the line? Definitely cash it in lol.
I’m sort of torn on how I hope his season two goes. I’d love to see the team improve enough to the point that they make the playoffs but it might be better for their future to quietly tank again to hopefully land a top 3 pick in this next draft. Pairing Wemby with one of Cooper Flagg, Ace Bailey or Noah Harper would be pretty sweet, maybe even the French PG from France too.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how Stephon Castle fits next to him.
