Scam alert!

MrEurekaMrEureka Posts: 24,706 ✭✭✭✭✭

Scammers are impersonating me again, asking my friends to send money. Be careful and don’t send money!

if they asked for rare coins to be sent ...then one could be temped to help. :)

Most likely your email may have been compromised and your contacts list became the distribution list ... change your email account password. many of our friends had the same thing happen - all asking for help.

I just received a phone call and the address said it was from my bank so I answered it, sure enough it was a scammer tring to get me to give him account information. It didn't take long to figure out it was a scam, read him the riot act and HE hung up! Ha Ha
In these trying times they are coming out of the woodwork,
    Be careful out there...........

That's exactly what happened more than a year ago. They got into my e-mail, changed my password, and locked me out. I got the account back after a while and locked them out, but they still have my contact list and all of my e-mail archives. So now they've created an e-mail address that's similar to mine, and are working the list again. They're in the Philippines, so nothing the authorities can do to stop them, if they were so inclined. All I can do is try to warn people.

If your contacts proved fruitful last time, it would make sense the scammers would try to harvest them again.

Luckily, those contacts who fell pray last time are now wiser and no one will be scammed.

You should have sent them a 1923-D Merc. That coin should easily be worth $2500.00. ;)
