Post Your Core Collection

As I spend time building the collection I have, I find that there are distinct coins that just stand out and that I would have a really tough time selling. They're the ones that took time to hunt down and aren't really replaceable - so they are truly the core of my collection. It's what makes one collection unique from another. Personally, I'm very happy with the direction that my core collection has taken, and I think it is a testament to the time I spent building it.
So, post your core collection and feel free to share any stories relating to your coins!

That’s a very nice set!
My current registry sets:
20th Century Type Set
Virtual DANSCO 7070
Slabbed IHC set - Missing the Anacs Slabbed coins
They look like terrific coins.
From your description of core collection, I would imagine many folks who put together a virtual Box of 20 (Bo20) list from within their own collection might use that as their answer. I look forward to seeing what others share.

I guess these are my core collection, a hodge podge of assorted gold, all beaned. 1 coin is not included here, that will be revealed at a later date 🙂

Love that 39-O @DeplorableDan
I guess that these are the coins that I would not want to sell, but my core collection is my 09-58 complete Lincoln set.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Although I have a complete set of 1909-58 Lincoln’s this is the core set of MPL’s that started me in that direction.

MPL's - Lincolns of Color
Central Valley Roosevelts
Still a work in progress, but double dimes are solidifying as my core, anchored by the 1874 Bass pattern proof.
And that’s a phenomenal group, @FlyingAl !
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Beautiful proofs @FlyingAl and I know how tough they are with contrast....VERY! I have a handful of coins that I never dreamed I would own, and thus are very special to me...Here's a few:
Here’s my core collection of slabbed circulated type set coins. Just one of each type, nothing higher than AU58+, from a screen shot of the thumbnail images in a virtual album in my iPhone/iPad camera roll. Only it cuts off a couple of coins from the beginning and end when I do this. I’m going to have to experiment putting in some duplicate coins at the beginning and end to try and make all the core collection show up when I do this screen shot of the whole album.🗿
Edited to add my attempt at getting all of them to show up by adding duplicates at the beginning and end since it cuts some off when I view the entire album. I’m getting closer, just one half cent obverse missing at the beginning, but got all the gold. That’s as good as I can get it to work 🌞

I sold much of my collection but kept these few. I want to continue the $2.5 Indian set in the future. The toned coin is random but just stays in the collection because its cool! So this is my collection right now, and the core that I ended up keeping.

A brand new core for me (don't worry, my gold is here to the end though and in my signature line).
I have had a great time with the CBH group. One individuals help has been priceless (you know who you are ). These 4 will be with me to the end of my collecting days.

Nice coins everyone.
I wish I had my coins to post. They are all tucked away in my SDB.
Here's a couple I just bought though. The 1921 is definetly PL and will be sent with my next submission.

Okay, you guys are all kinda freaking me out with how cool all of these coins are.

@FlyingAl - love your contrasted '36-'42 proofs. Tough to find.
My core cameos are in an album in my signature line below. I limited it to the 1950-64 dates. Hopefully, all the photos will load, sometimes there are a few missing for some reason..
Edited to add. Actually about half of the True View photos aren't loading when I clicked on the album. I plan to whine to customer service about this. If you are going to offer albums, then support them. Otherwise, I'll simply delete them. It's not worth the drama.

CWT for me... in silver and struck over dimes and quarters.
Been looking at many of these in the Redbook since I was a kid and thinking NO WAY!!! When there's a will, there's a way. Not the best pictures but you get the idea. In no particular order. Love these small soap bars. I might very well have bought the slabs and not the coins.

Just a small part, I still have some "coins" but the longer I collect the more un-interesting I find them to be.

I don’t wish to inundate this thread with every coin, so I’ll offer my core bookends…
I have multiple core collections.
Here is one of them.
And here are some toned examples that compliment some of those coins set forth above.
Some real doozies there!!!!
I love this forum. So rich with hobbyist who share the same interest as me!

I have five main collections, Franklin's, Walkers, Peace Dollars, Gold Type Set, and Indian Eagles. This is a photo of my AU58 Eagles. I won't see the 20s. 30s, or 33p but I am very pleased with the set.

So, I’m only showing one coin, that I just picked up a couple days ago. Not my highest graded coin (pXF-45 CAC) , but when I lay all my coins side by side, this is the ‘core’ of the core, to me!😉
I think I'll choose these four:
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
@skamieniecki that is an incredible collection!
Well done!!!

Anything that would fit with this picture....
My current "Box of 20"
I forgot to add this little Gem to my prior post.
Not quite a Franklin, but variety is the spice of life.
Funny you should ask! I do a lot of binging and purging, this is what's left of my type set after my most recent purge.
Here are 4 of mine.

Wow what a great thread! People are coming out of the woodwork to post on this one!
I’ll join with some pics tomorrow, but in the meantime, I hope it keeps going!
@JonBrand83
I love that ‘50-C HE!
Congrats and that is a keeper!👍
so far only have 1 in my collection.
i collect US coins by date and mint mark HOLED, ALL denominations.
Great idea for these coins!
Tough coin. Nice pickup.
I just (tonight) went through a bunch of my collection with this in mind.
I don’t think I know right now what my core collection is.
Definitely the 1950 PF65 (avatar) and XF/AU 1914-D Lincoln (looking for a pic, I’ve posted it before). Probably my ‘45 Micro-S Merc MS66 CAC (same pic prob) and a DMPL Morgan or two Beyond that, I’m just not sure. I need to figure it out and get rid of some stuff so I can add more to the core.
Thanks for the inspiration, everybody.
I do have two core collections but every is probably available for the right price. When I do sell I try not to sell anything that would be very difficult if not impossible to replace.
Not sure how to link it here but my core collection is the Island City Complete US Type set, circulation strikes 1792-1964
I am 10 coins from being complete with 90% being CAC. The last 10 are expensive and hard to find in grades I can afford.
Willy
My core collection is a hodgepodge of whatever catches my eye... other than my type set album I suppose.

Wow! That's a nice "hodgepodge" of US coins. That's my ideal 7070 collection of attractive, mostly circulated US coins. Each coin is excellent. I just spent 5 minutes admiring the set.
You have a holed 1856 Flying Eagle?! That's a nice FE set. Nice holes.
My set features bad holes. Here, the coin vandal failed miserably.

Superb. Just the 1873-CC 25C No Arrows left

@Meltdown - Man, I really like your 7070! I can see the effort you put into it.
I did the same thing you did... I display many of the reverses on the front of the pages as well.

Thanks, unfortunately that one will always be left.
Thanks. A few of those have been swapped out and "upgraded". Those photos are a couple years old now. I think that's why I decided it's my core collection contribution. It's been the one constant so to speak in my ever changing collection tastes.
