Mexico 1732-1771 what series is the most difficult to collect?

I would imagine the 8 reales as the easiest but after that in what order would you place the 1/2, 1 , 2 & 4 reales series?

To date the only milled 1732 I have yet to see up for sale in the time I have been collecting Mexican coins (3-4 years) is the 2 reales. I do not believe I have yet to see any 1733 milled 2 reales either.

4Rs have always been recognized as the most difficult denomination

But what comes next after the 4R? I imagine the 2 reales?

Depends if you’re talking about “most difficult to find” or “most difficult to pay for” or “absolute rarity.”

    I would say availability is: 4, 2, 1, 1/2, 8
    Difficult to pay for: 4, 8, 2, 1, 1/2
    Absolute rarity: 4, 1/2, 1, 2, 8

1/2 and 1 are more rare I believe, than anything other than 4 reales, people just don’t care as much about them because they’re smaller.

This is based on the whole set, certainly a couple sets have “stoppers” but I have largely ignored those and taken the set as a whole.

I'm BACK!!! Used to be Billet7 on the old forum.

Difficulty drops off dramatically after the 4’s
