Some in focus, cropped pics would be a nice thing. Good luck

Maybe in your mind but I offer an alternative.

Should a member want to purchase, I will hold their check until he/she receives the coins and then emails me that they are happy with the transaction. I eliminate the risk then and would not ruin my reputation here over such a small sum.

Most of us have cameras on our phones now days... hard ask to buy sight unseen via payment with no security...

This way of selling might have been fine in 1973 or even 1993 but not here in 2023. It's not that hard to take pics in this day and age.

  • No rush to sell. I sure don't need the money so just cleaning out some things. I also have 11 Peace dollars I will unload. Keeping one which may have good value.

Will visit some PCGS dealers in the state and see what they offer on both.

    Can close this thread now.

Sold 3 coins yesterday to a local collector (local like 84 miles away). We met half way in between and he examined my offerings. The 1881-S went for $400 and two graded coins (!921 MS62 and 1921 Au58) sold for $160.
The 1881 was MS 66 per PCGS price guide. It could even have been 67 as very little wear, but not toned and well struck. You could even count the eagle's individual breast feathers which is better than the 1882-O I have.

I agree. Still it looked better than those pics shown on our price guide. Pics can be altered.

Pics can be altered sure....but you just agreed that the written description YOU gave is not accurate.

Statement 1 - ..."67 as very little wear"...

Counter Statement - "MS67 and very little wear? I don't think so"

    Statement 2 - "I agree"

    Which is it?

This is the issue with not providing photos.

I once asked a question in general of how toning affected price. Two members quickly called for pics and I never asked about any specific coins. Some members are pic spring loaded. Never did get an answer of my question and I wanted a member answer not the PCGS one.
