I didn't even know these existed. When I saw this coin I knew I had to have it. The cameo is super nice.
If you have one please an image.

Looks good. That is probably what got it the star (and no spots or other).

Cool.
I certainly don’t understand how they determine what gets a star and what doesn’t.
I submitted a number of nice toner foreign coins recently, and though they all graded, no stars were awarded.
A couple of links on the star.

Nice and frosty!

Thanks @lilolme.
They don’t even list any dark side as eligible for the star designation, so that might explain it; except I think I’ve seen some in dealer cases before??
Anyway, the OPs new coin is quite nice and exceptional for a 63, and well deserved.
World coins are eligible for a star but it seems like NGC is more stringent on giving them out.
Very nice. Twenty years ago that would be a DMPL (DPL).
I made a Canadian star half ast year.
I have this one too
And here is the article from NGC mentioning that world coins became eligible starting February 1, 2014:

The *PL in this case is typically because the obverse was determined to be DPL, but the reverse only PL.
PL or DPL obverse with a non-PL/non-DPL reverse = *
DPL obverse with a PL reverse = * PL
Non-PL/non-DPL obverse, even with a PL or DPL reverse = no star
As certain toning also equates to exceptional eye appeal for the assigned grade, toning can also bring a * on the label. In my experience, some of the most misunderstood reasons for not having a *, once NGC began considering stars, on the label of a toned coin s the degree of toning, the particular colors, and/or the uniformity of the toning.
Your hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need it.
On the medallion it says circulated. And I thought all soft pack GSAs were circulated.
Am I being dumb right now?
GSA didn’t always get them right.
NGC's stars, as abundant as the stars in the sky and you just gotta wonder why. And that's all I am saying on the subject(ive) matter.
