1914 Proof Barber Dime—is it cameo??

This new purchase arrived this week and it’s flashy and stunning in-hand.
It has quite a bit of contrast, but could it make the cut for a cameo at PCGS?

Apparently they already determined that.

The first set of images makes me think maybe (though Liberty’s cheek looks to fall a bit short). But the second set says “No”.

Sure, but that wasn’t the spirit of the question![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Thanks Mark. I wasn’t expecting any cameo effect at all from the seller photos and was pleasantly surprised by the in-hand appearance and contrast. I’ll chalk it up as bonus eye appeal to a coin I already like.

Looks like your holder was from around the time they started designating cameo on non-moderns. Might be worth a reconsideration.

It looks like a liner to me, but even though they are good quality, we are still only getting two sets of images. The holder in question was used from September-October, 1998 through February, 2002 and PCGS extended the CAM and DCAM designations to coins other than Morgan dollars in this time period. So, it may have been submitted when this designation wasn't used for this series by PCGS.

Judging by the second set of pics, the coin doesn't appear to have enough contrast for a "CAM" designation.
Congratulations on finding the lowest mintage Barber Dime proof. Only 425 were minted. Most likely it is a cameo. Unfortunately, the CAC price guide only gives it a $20 premium.
Is that what you were looking for. I personally feel that the cam designation is just another justification for higher prices based on little to nothing special. I myself have one cameo in my collection, and it didn't matter one way ro another that it was. I believe in to each his own so I respect what moves you and interests you and what I think doesn't matter in the least. I just wish I understood what collectors see in this genre.
