Finished My Circulated Carson City Morgan Set
![M4Madness](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/BGM54PJN5KKC/nK9FVIOAETH7H.jpeg)
It took me 7 weeks to the day start to finish, beginning with the 1889 and ending with the 1884. The 1884 was the hardest one to locate by far. I'll be sending the 1881, 1882, and 1884 to PCGS for hopefully trouble-free crossovers.

Tough set! A number of them are the true rarities before the GSA release. Congratulations!
Now, try to find a circulated 1903-O. That is also a major rarity.
Awesome set, congrats!
That’s excellent
I like that you tracked how long it took you. Also going to look much better when they are “slab aligned”.
Wow!

Cool 😎
7 weeks.....damn that was fast. I enjoy the hunt ....when I am finished it's almost a let down. That being said....Congrats. What's your next speed dating project?
Was your goal for this set based just on time for completion?
I know on sets that can theoretically be accomplished fairly quickly it can sometimes be fun, and rewarding, to set additional parameters to increase the difficulty. Perhaps to collect them all with matching original circulated cameo surfaces or all in a grade range, say VF25 to VF35 with similar tone qualities.

Thanks, guys, for the comments. I sincerely appreciate them.
7 weeks was fast, but at the same time it felt like eternity to me. Lol! There were long hours of searching involved in locating the tougher ones. I checked the coin auction sites daily, and eBay hourly for weeks to find the 1884. Seriously, every waking hour. One hour it wasn't listed then the next hour it was -- and I jumped immediately.
I'm going to take a break over the winter to replenish my savings before I make any more coin purchases. Lol! These are the only coins I own. I had a lot of U.S. and world coins in my youth (I'm 55), but somewhere over those decades they slipped from my grasp. I honestly have no idea what I did with any of them. A woman I know and her brother inherited a large collection 5 years ago, and helping them catalog that wonderful collection got me interested in numismatics again.
My Carson City Morgan Registry Set
I found out quickly that I'm not very patient when it comes to coins. Lol! I originally planned to take a break after the key dates (1889, 1879, and 1893) and maybe buy one coin a month or something. Once I realized that some of them in circulated grades were very, very tough, I figured I'd better stay on top of my searches, since many didn't come up for sale in the grades I wanted very often.
I started out wanting to buy mint states when I could, and even bought an MS64 1885. Then I suddenly decided that I wanted coins with histories that included more than sitting in a government vault for 80 years, and took the more difficult path. I originally wanted VF35-XF45, but "settled" for two AU50 specimens due to my impatience. Lol! I think the various tones of my set enhance the fact that they have had vastly different histories in commerce. I love the look of blast white Morgans, but I do feel that they generally are equated with sheltered lives.

Now you just need to add the Liberty Seated and Trade Dollar CC's. Good luck!![ ](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

I gave that notion a brief thought -- until I priced some of them in VF35. Lol!
EDIT: I checked out your set and am envious. I know how painstaking it was for you to build it.
My Carson City Morgan Registry Set
Hey, there you go!
The internet is great for finding stuff (and coins) relatively quickly. I used to go to show after show tracking down items for my set(s). Today can do it from home. I still like traveling to shows but not as much as I used to. ![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
