Mine was the 25th Bills vs Giants.

I may have "watched" one earlier, but the first one I remember watching was the Dolphins finishing off their undefeated season.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

    1978 Steelers vs Cowboys

I have vivid memories of the old 19 inch in the living room with my father watching it,

He was a Steelers fan, I was only 8 so I wasn't fully invested in it at that time but I did like the Cowboys

First one I watched, really watched, as opposed to just saw on the TV, was in 1984. Raiders over Redskins.

Then I distinctly remember watching two years later, in January of 86, as my Patriots were ground up and spit out by the Bears. (Still gloating, @galaxy27 ?).

You sure picked a good first one to watch!

if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? if the Bears win a super bowl in the mid-80s and subsequently fail to do squat for roughly the next 4 decades, thus causing said SB win to become quite nebulous, did it actually happen?

to answer the OP's question, SB XII. i vividly remember watching this no-catch? catch by Butch Johnson. watch this clip to the end..........i even remember the outstanding American Express commercial with Tom Landry

First one I remember, because of one play. VII.

I remember all the lead up as the perfect season versus the "Over the Hill gang".

I may have watched parts of previous SBs but the '86 Pats vs Bears was my first memorable SB. Squish the Fish then Berry the Bears took over around here until Chicago laid the smackdown on their ass lol.

That was a really fun run of games until the "Bury the Bears" took a different route lol

I was in the room watching while Da Bears dismantled my Pats. but I would not necessarily have called myself a true "fan" yet. the first SB where i was completely invested and understood what was going on was after the 88 season when the niners beat the bengals at the last minute. great game

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I really don’t remember, but do remember vividly going to grandma’s house Christmas 1971 and watching the chiefs-dolphins playoff game in what sports illustrated later dubbed ‘the longest game’. My dad subscribed to SI and that was a second gut punch seeing Garo on the cover.
I think I remember it so vividly because granny and my step grandpa already had a color tv.
I may have watched the first SB if my dad was watching but I don’t know.

    Super Bowl XIII

Watching my Cowboys hopes die with a dropped Jackie Smith ball in the endzone. He was a good receiver but will always be known for that dropped pass. He's sort of like the Bill Buckner of football.

I’m not saying that was an impossible catch to make, but we don’t see receivers making that catching movement too often, do we ?

Could the throw have been higher to make that catch easier?

Didn’t he have to sit down backwards to catch it ?
I just don’t think receivers practice that a lot.

I could be totally wrong though.

I know you’re a Mahomes fan, but when the Dolphins beat the Vikings in 1973 Griese was just 6 for 7.
In the AFC championship game blowout against Oakland he was 3 for 6. Shula, Knoll and most other coaches believed in running the ball and controlling the clock.
The best defense in their mind was a great ground game.

    Oakland lost 27-10 to Miami.
Miami had 53 run plays and 6 pass plays. Oakland knew what was coming every play but was overwhelmed.

Definitely not a perfect throw but it should have been caught imho. You decide.

Mine was the first one, Kansas City vs. Green Bay. Kansas City made a game of it in the first half.

Super Bowl XII, Broncos vs Cowboys.

I recall rooting for the underdog Broncos because a) my brother lived in Denver and had sent 12 yr old me a Lyle Alzado jersey and b) the Cowboys stomped my Bears in the playoffs 37-7. That whole "America's Team" stuff annoyed me...lol

I also thought it was cool seeing a Super Bowl played in a dome for the first time.

p.s. And Butch Johnson still hasn't caught that ball.
