A great experience with Stack's (we often dwell on negatives)

I won my first ever auction at Stack's during the George Schwenk Collection auction. The auction was held on Wednesday, 8/16/2023. The coin was an 1836 $5 MS62+CAC and one I have wanted since I saw it over a year ago.

I mailed a check First Class mail (not express) on Thursday the 17th and by Thursday the 24th they were already shipping the coin using two day FedEx. I received the coin on Monday, 8/28/2023. Again, this was my first purchase from Stack's. I did not expect such great service. From getting a call to up my bid limit, to getting a call to verify my address before shipping the customer service was top notch. I just felt they deserved to have a positive shout out. I am not sure if any Stack's people hang out here but I appreciate your efforts.

Even worse would have been if JA had put a gold sticker on it. That would have taken me out of the running 😄

I happen to love Stack's, tremendous customer service, always able to reach somebody that knows what they are doing, even during cover bs they kept things together.
oh yes and gorgeous specimen.
BTW what did it end up selling for if I may?

Easy enough to access the result so don’t mind the question. Hammer $12,000 so $14,400 with BP. Went over $21,000 a year ago.

That coin is gorgeous! Looks seriously under graded, unless the trueview is hiding some hairlines somewhere. Great to hear about SB! I have never used them, but will consider them in the future.

You did well and now have a great coin that certainly looks very undergraded. I think it to be a great bargain for the price. I do not understand the 62.5 grade but I have not seen the coin in hand. Very worthy of a regrade submittal.

1. Agree with the comments about customer service.
2. That's one helluva eye-appealing coin. The photos of the coin in the holder from the original auction from 2021 reveals a very flashy, original coin. It's a keeper.

Yes…that one was a long hunt for me. Pedzola turned me on to the one I have. He has a great eye for old gold.

The 1851 $5 I just posted in another thread about my $5 type set was a Pedzola coin. He has a great eye for quality.
