A Note About Artificial Toning (AT)......
In general, toning is a form of corrosion or alteration to the chemical makeup of a coin's surface through either natural or artificial means. Coins toned by way of artificial (non-natural) processes are typically referred to as "Artificially Toned" by the greater numismatic community. Various ideas and opinions about the desirability of natural vs. AT coins are expressed and debated, but it is our belief that AT coins provide collectors an opportunity to own truly unique works of art with rich and vivid colorations that (most times) can only be achieved through the AT process. Ultimately it is up to each collector to decide for themselves about the desirability of any coin, whether toned or untoned.
I think this is an interesting take on NT vs. AT and wanted to share.
Do you agree or disagree?

I don’t. I consider AT to happen naturally but in an expedited manner with the intent to alter the coin.
That looks like one of those AI generated descriptions that eBay now offers as an option. They tend to have this same structure regardless of the coin.
That is an interesting viewpoint that I have not considered. I don't think anyone could disagree with the content because it is true (although a bit slanted towards the pro-AT side of course). And if someone wanted a neatly colored ASE, Morgan, etc I don't have a problem with it as long as the AT is not being represented as NT. People can like whatever they want to like.
That being said, I personally am not interested.
It reads to me as someone who is attempting to be on both sides of the fence at the same time. They "warn" collectors about possible pitfalls of AT coins, then play up the possible desirable aspect of owning such coins. It's a classic way to claim to inform someone while possibly also attempting to gouge them simultaneously.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Agreed.

Its just a sales pitch for AT coins
AT coins, typically, cannot get straight graded which makes a resale very difficult.![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
TPGs understand the color progression and processes by which NT happens.

vegas baby!
Negative salesmanship. How to justify selling/buying a artificially toned coin and being comfortable with it. More bs.
I’ve seen some before that market them as “Art toned” implying that the artificially toned coins they were selling were works of “Art”.

I have seen some slabs that say that
Here's one I'd gladly own... (gleaned today from an earlier thread)
Not for me.
Not me either.
It can be tricky on the toners. Would not want pay $$$$ for one then it not get sticker or cross to CACG. How do you get rid of the AT coins?
Interesting? I don't know...its somewhat factual. Its perhaps how a seller of a wildly toned ASE would describe his material.
I do not see it as positive or negative, unethical or virtuous.
Why isn't that just an abbreviation for artificial?
But, they could well be works of art.
