2023 American Women Quarters: Jovita Idar

JeffMJeffM Posts: 587 ✭✭✭✭

The Jovita Idar coin will be released tomorrow (August 15). Anyone as excited as I am over this unique release? I'm glad I have a subscription for the 3-roll set. These coins could be pretty much in demand because they are so different.

It's interesting for sure. I'm not a huge fan of it though. The program overall has some pretty ugly designs. I'm looking forward to the Maria Tallchief though.

It's a fun design, but if your eyesight isn't the greatest and this was the first American coin someone came across, they would have no idea it's a quarter. I think the designer got a little carried away with cool looks versus practicality.

I always tend to like designs with wide open fields like this.

I agree. Love the coin! It's so different from the others.

I just ordered a 3-roll set. Will probably spend the P and D, and save the S roll for posterity.

This was release day for this coin. I can hear the crickets it is so quiet.

Wow, I forgot about these, I have two rolls on subscription. I just popped over to the mint site and 3-roll sets are still available. My how things have changed.

they won't be available long, they usually sell out the same day as release

  • MtW124MtW124 Posts: 416 ✭✭✭✭

These always seem to sell out rather quickly.

3 roll set still available. Does not look like a day one sell out.

I give my neighbor’s child each issue in an airtite. She anticipates them now. An album for them might spark a collection.

Still available Wednesday morning. With a product limit of 12,620 for the 3-roll set, I am shocked that these are still available, especially considering that a lot of these were sold under subscription. Remember how these were unavailable at release time? I guess people lost interest in these.

They are a wonderful design and very eye appealing with all of the reverses open field

  • messydeskmessydesk Posts: 19,969 ✭✭✭✭✭

Not a fan. To each their own.

  • ProofCollectionProofCollection Posts: 6,171 ✭✭✭✭✭

I probably should get an extra roll set or two. I suspect with the wide open fields that high grade examples will be difficult.

Could be as much an economic indicator as it is an indicator of interest.

Approaching the 24 hour mark and they are still available.

It'll be interesting to see the # of 70s due to the open field.

None of the American women quarters have achieved MS70s. I’m sure plenty will get PR70s.

A little over 500.000 S’s in that batch is still a low mintage + whatever ends up selling in mint sets

  • OLCOLC Posts: 401 ✭✭✭

They don't sell "S" mint coins in mint sets. FYI

Anyone can check but I do believe in the proofs this is the lowest PR70 population. You'll be lucky to get MS67 for this coin. 68's will (should) be ultra rare.

I’ve only managed to make one MS68 Woman’s quarter after submitting 2022 mint sets for bulk grading. It was a Wong Denver mint.

I think Ms Gibson is listening and taking notes to address issues we all discuss. In my opinion, She is a good Mint Director.

I think I like this design, but I am worried about the open fields getting scratches quickly and they won't look good even after just a few months in circulation. Finding an MS67 or higher may be very tough.

No different than the Wyoming Quarters really.

Could be as much an economic indicator as it is an indicator of interest.

The economy had soft periods during the state quarter and NP quarter series also, but they had good demand, particularly the former. I'm thinking diminished interest due to a combo of quarter series burnout and perhaps also the subject matter. Let's be honest here... So far, you can count the women in this series who are actually known on a nationwide basis on one hand and have a finger left over.
