ANA Pittsburgh

I drove to Pittsburgh after picking up 2 buddies from upstate New York where I grew up.
They sometimes join me for road trips.Since there were 3 of us I decided to stay at the Westin under the ANA group rates. I made the reservation many months ago. It was well worth it being on site for the show.
There were 2 main coin goals from this trip. One was to submit my NGC MS 61 84cc Eagle for a crossover and the other was to buy a nice 1893 cc half Eagle. There was one in the Fairmont auction that was 62+CAC and I hoped to get it for a maximum total cost of $8500.
We came across a pay phone on our way to the show!

Decide to attend a day game Pirates vs Braves. A good game with the Pirates winning. A little rain but not enough to bother either the Pirates or this retired letter carrier.
The mint director pulling 4 winners for the 200 coin special insert label. Didn’t get the golden ticket.
The half Eagle went too high for me. So, I bought a consolation prize from Northern Nevada coin.
I had money left over to buy my first Saint. This was the only 1907 CAC (not high relief) on the bourse floor.
I debated buying a 1927 which were better struck but I like the first and last year of a series.
My crossover of the 84cc Eagle was successful! Definitely worth the one day show fee and the 1% charge for successfully crossing. The trip was well worth it!

LOve the coins.
Looks like a good show for you and your friends. Question, when did PCGS start charging a 1% fee on crossovers? I never bother with crossovers so I was not aware of this charge.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
My history doesn't go back anywhere near as far as most other people here but for me the answer is always, at least as long as I've been paying attention.
The fee is charged IF you successfully cross. It is based on the PCGS value of the coin. It was well worth it.
Interesting, I remember doing a few crossovers but it has been at least 15 years, I just do not recall being charged a 1% fee back then. Certainly possible that I was and just do not remember that, thanks gents.

While I’ve mentioned it previously, Tom is the very kind forum member who agreed to sell me his double stickered 1877 Indian Head Cent graded MS65RB for my unique IHC set. For those not familiar with the Indian Head set, the 1877 is the key date for the set. Rick Snow says this coin is 90% red!
I am very grateful to Tom, and appreciative!
