Seem a lot of coins working in restaurants but this one….

What’s going on w this quarter? Bulging out in some spots, letters stamped that have be no business being in the quarter, pock-marks SC scattered throughout…what should I being looking closer at/trying to photograph?!

    You photographed it fine. Your coin is damaged from circulation. What happened to it? You can use your imagination. Whatever you say works for me.

    Looks like it was on/in the ground, got some corrosion.
    Also got hit by a few objects.

    It can be a rough experience for a coin, outside of the more protected spots like the till, wallet, change jar, etc.

    I was going to say heavy corrosion but, yes, fire victim seems more likely.

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    It was in fire or was dug out of the ground. If from the ground, it's corrosion.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    The "bulging" indicates high heat so I agree with the fire assessment.
