Yes, it was issued 2006. There was also a commemorative $5 gold coin issued at the same time.
YUPPERS. I got one. Then there’s The eagle on the 2008 commemorative it’s one of my other favs I believe you mentioned it in another post.

Modern mint products are just so blobby, they all look like cheap Chinese forgeries. Look at the knife-edged devices on that old Morgan, beautiful!

Yes, I’m somewhat dreading seeing the 2023 proof Morgan.
The 2006 commemorative is almost budget silver round quality.
Leroy Van Allen's reaction to the 2021 Morgans was, "Yech. I don't think George [Morgan] would approve." I have no reason to think the proofs will be any better. I imagine they'll actually be worse, since they'll give them that 60-grit cameo finish.
