Sunsetting My Irish Shilling Set

For those of you that have seen my posts in the past you probably know I collected and assembled an Irish Shilling set. It was a challenging set I spent a lot of time assembling and for many pieces having the funds was the easy part and finding the right coin was the difficult part. Today I broke up the set and sent the coins off for consignment.

I just wanted to share with the folks here a last showcase of the set before it's in new collector's hands.

There's been multiple reasons for my moving on but mostly it's because the hunt ended. I rarely found new pieces for the set and on the registry, there wasn't much in the way of activity by other users which I enjoy seeing. Beyond that I think it's best to move away from date sets where half the value is in a single coin. Another critique is just that I don't like hoarding and regularly purge things I own. I don't know how I ended up a collector and a minimalist but here we are haha.

A video on my thoughts on the coins:

Does that mean it's time to change your profile picture?

It does indeed. Not sure what it should be now. Maybe the same as my Discord photo and keep it consistent.

Beautiful set. I am sure it will do very well when sold.

    All glory is fleeting.
  • Quite enjoyed the YouTube video you put together for the set! All very nice coins.
Where (or with who) did you decide to consign the set? Keen to follow if sold publicly.

It will be sold at Stacks Bowers. Likely the 1937 in an auction and the others in another. They divide up stuff value wise so it's not going to go as one lot or anything. Some of the coins I have arranged for sale separately.
