It is missing some of the key details (like the horn and date) but it still feels fairly meaty. The central detail on the Indian and lettering are pretty good. I’d say it graded VG8.
Normally, I would think details coin, but being that it's a key error coin, I would guess F12. Heavy scratches across the face and body of the bison ususally give details grade.

VG08...then again it appears to be a slab from ATS...possible VG10 or F12.

Interesting looking piece. Looks like wear but also looks like some luster hiding around the devices. What happened to the date/horn details? Wear, strike or die? How about a WAG of 40.
Since you said we’ll be surprised, that would take something like MS 63
…but in reality, around VG 10
Strike, etc aside, the rim is flat, I’m at VG 10.

In the VG camp on this one. What is the surprise grade?

6-8
Wow. Everything from G to AU!
I'd guess VG08 or 10.
It surprisingly does have F to VF characteristics though.
Interesting coin.

OK maybe a G6/G4 but certainly not a VG10

Grades are always an opinion, even if it's a TPG opinion. Mine is G4.
Whew, I was expecting something completely ridiculous….glad it’s only somewhat ridiculous (and matched my hedged on the high side guess).
I wouldn't crack that one out!
I'm usually pretty good at spotting overdates but this one would have gotten by me. G4 at best
Send it to CAC. 😆

Don't crack it out. LOL

The OP coin pics showmore detail than G4 or 6. Here's a G4 pic.

Undergraded
Late to the game, but would have guessed an 8....Cheers, RickO
I agree. Look at my avatar. It's just the date area showing but still came back PCGS OGH G-6.
Pete
I agree with G04.
Late to the party and I’m not comfortable with Buffs.
You created enough suspense I thought well, just maybe it’s a gem!😂
Buff's are probably the most grade inflated series. That's an AG coin in 1980.
AG
6........probably all it would grade if crossed to PCGS.
