First Strike Sealed Box Value

Just curious as to what sort of premium a sealed box from US Mint would carry vs opened? I know it obviously depends on what specific coins but a sealed box means they are First Strike Eligible still correct? I have a sealed box of 3 2021 Morgan CCs and a sealed box of 3 2021 Morgan Os and was wondering what would be a fair asking price for them. Thanks!

    Look on ebay.

A sealed box of 3 just sold for $550.

[Note that the premium is small vs an open box where $450 is the approximate price. ]

Normally, a sealed box garners at least a moderate to small premium. If there were known errors/anomalies for that year/sets, then it depends on the magnitude/rarity of the condition. Cheers, RickO

be prepared to provide buyer with documentation (emails, etc.) from mint that shows a shipping number and what is in the box. potential buyer can then use shipping number on the box to confirm what is in the box, especially important if he is going to send it in sealed for grading.

I might very well be wrong, but my impression is that the sealed box game is best played closer to issue date.

Unless we're talking about 60 or 70 year old proof sets, for example, I don't think long term holding of sealed boxes necessarily pays off. Other hot issues come along and the next big thing replaces the last big thing. In the case of all the Silver Eagle special coins and sets that we all desperately scrambled for over the last several years, I can barely recall what some of them were.

The result of all this is that I'd expect the premiums to decline over time.
