This is another example of a random coin that you should not be looking at.
Thanks again for the reply, and I am always optimistic. The proverb says that whoever knows the door of hope does not know the word impossible.
Not a doubled die.
Definitely not a doubled die.... some faint machine doubling or die deterioration. Cheers, RickO
Thanks all for reply.
Except one shouldn't be basing research on hope. Research should be based on facts. There is a database of known varieties. Why not use it?
Welcome and please listen carefully to what is being said. Many have come before you grasshopper and they have learned or left. Your choice. Thanks 🙏

My suggestion:
Learn the difference between an error and a variety. (Errors can happen on any coin any time, while varieties are repeated anomalies in the die, so usually many examples will exist).
Then, do a quick search of all coins for errors, and only scrutinize the dates/mintmarks that have known varieties.
That's my opinion, anyway. But it will save you lots of time.
Nice pictures - they show the Die Deterioration perfectly.
