One of the most exciting numismatic events of my lifetime! Grades in Last Post.

Like many of us I started collecting when I was a kid and around the mid 70's started buying proof sets from the Mint, my dad would order them for me and I would stash them away with the plan to sell them in a few years for huge profits.
Fast forward to today and I have a couple of boxes of proof sets that well, are worth about what I paid for them 40+ years ago. I decided to start sorting through them to sell on eBay (they don't sell well on the BST!) and ran across the coin below. This set I have had for 40 years and never looked at it. Finding this is a highlights of my numismatic endeavors as 1) Exciting to find and 2) Validates my investment theory when I was younger! Guess I will have to send a submission in soon!

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Looks like about a nice $800 score for you! Unless, of course, you pop a 70!
No S!
Very nice find of your prior intentional acquisition (hard to word that but you get my point).
Really fun find! Congrats!
Coin Photographer.
Excellent find. A beautiful coin that is a well known variety.
The one thing that would make your find better would be having your 1983 no S dime be one minted in 1975![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
That's awesome!!
Congrats! I've bought quite a few accumulations of Proof sets and have scored some type 2's, minor doubled dies and such, but never any of these. Well played.
Fantastic !
The only variety of note that I ever found in a proof set was a 1960 large date over small date Lincoln Cent.
Cool find!

Stunning! It's nice when all the hard work of collecting surprises you when you least expect it. I know your heart skipped a few beats... Have you recovered yet? Congrats!! 👍🏻

So many casual collectors buy these and just put them away. I've often wondered how many are still out there waiting to be discovered. I'll bet there are still a few more.
Congrats on a nice score!!!

Great find!! And already in your collection. I bet you will be checking the rest of your sets in storage. Cheers, RickO
I know this sounds improbable but it is true....I went through my boxes and out of the 3 1983 Proof sets I found 2 have no MM dimes. I am buying a lottery ticket today also!

Makes sense if you ordered them directly from the Mint.
@ElKevvo... Congratulations!!! Great good fortune.... Good idea on the lottery ticket as well. Cheers, RickO
Congratulations! I found one of those in 2013, and I'm glad you got to feel the excitement!
Here's my thread from then about my find and what I did with it: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/893621/i-cherrypicked-a-new-dishwasher-at-the-antique-mall
You suck!
And that makes it all worth it! Yes, as Watersport pointed out, I did cherry pick myself but hey, I won't complain about it!
