I thought maybe someone had written a big flim flam essay on eBay, identifying this as a ‘Racketeer Nickel’ type coin, drumming up interest and bidding, but it’s a low baller from a famous set instead. Provenance makes sense to me in the case of high grade rarities, not so much in the case of low grade banalities.
Since I am not interested in heavily worn coins, and provenance not important, I would not bid, nor can I even hazard a guess as to sale price. Cheers, RickO
There is no provenance listed on the slab. I will never understand lowball collectors. Paying a premium for a heavily worn common coin just seems silly to me.

Great news for junk box collectors! Junk boxes have become a 'low-ball bonanza' for collectors and investors alike! Look for eager crowds around the junk boxes at the upcoming Summer FUN show.
Just remember my fellow junk box soldiers, that now you're competing for the WORST looking coin you can find, not the best.

I'll start with too much.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Any more than 5 cents is too much for that one.

25 cents.
more than $ten less than a $hundred
any amount of money is too much.
I'm rather sure that a low baller paid a king's Ransom for that atrocious abomination. Certainly not my cup of tea...

$50
higher
$500
less than 100
The 1883 5c - $1 Junk Box material.
1883 NC isn't common well worn. Someone probably wanted it for a low ball set. My guess is $120
it went for >10, <100
The provenance….that is what triggered the competition

How about this one? I have MS61 1921’s that look a lot better!
