Someone must have carried that as a pocketpiece for a very long time!
Pirate approved, this one was surely checked for gold content way back when.

This one has a split personality; denominationally and metallically. Bought here on the BST and love it!
Here's how low I'll go for an R6 coin (WB6). $28.

One of my favorite coins. The chopmark tells a story and it saved me about a thousand dollars on a nice 1857-S.

A nearly flawless, dateless Newfoundland half. Wow!

Wow that's super cool.
The story behind that piece has to be a good one.
Perhaps the 1853 date on the gold dollar is a loved one's birth year and the date on the quarter is the year the loved one died. This may have been created and carried for many years by this person's child as a pocket piece until the date on the quarter wore off. Of course, this is only a guess. Does anyone else have a theory they would care to share?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

No theory as to origin or purpose, but sure is a unique piece. Cheers, RickO

Another pocketpiece that someone carried for a very long time. Wouldn't you like to know the story behind why it was made and who carried it ... and for how long?
