Is now a good time to sell Colonials ?
Is now a good time to sell Colonials ?
Or is there 'no' good time ?
Specifically, Pine Trees

Not sure in general, but at least some went for more than I wanted to bid in the recent Early American Coppers auction

Fugios recently became popular when research confirmed they were official US coinage. PCGS Coin Facts even moved them from their "Colonial" section and gave them their own section called "Federal Contract Coinage."

I've always seen them as decent sellers (and keepers as well)
I am not familiar enough with the market to confirm/deny 'a good time'... However, such coins would rarely see bad times IMO. Cheers, RickO
We are coming up on the 250th anniversary of 1776 in a few years. I speculate that colonials and colonial currency, as well as early Mint issues, could see a surge as it approaches. But forecasting anything in numismatics is pretty much a futile exercise.
If looking to make money in coins, I look at it like I do stock or other investments. Ask yourself if you would enter the investment at the current levels. If you wouldn't, it might be a good time to exit. Investors often do buy on the ascent, but only when they feel it has legs and the current prices are still attractive.
I haven't been watching Pine Trees but I have been watching Fugios for the last couple of years and some of the auction prices have been all over the map. It seems like anything with F12 details or better and in straight-graded holders bring strong money. Damaged pieces... whether Environmental damage, scratches, cleanings, etc... seem to sit, depending on the damage and rarity of the issue.
FWIW... I've been under bidder on two auctions where the coins were in details holders yet still brought fairly strong money...
Bonne chance...
