Susan B Anthony - wide rim?

DBesse27DBesse27 Posts: 3,078 ✭✭✭✭✭

Hi guys, I'm a card collector only, so I know very little about the coin world. A friend of mine brought me a box of coins and asked me to research what he has. I've done a pretty good job researching the US coins on eBay, but I was confused when I looked up this Susan B Anthony. It looks like it's probably pretty worthless, but I saw some listings for a "wide rim" version. Does that variation really carry a premium? And if so, how do I identify which version this is?

It looks like it but your photo is a little blurry in the date area.

No, it does not have it. It's only worth a buck.

Thanks for the notes. @LJenkins11 side by side actually makes me think this might be a wide rim, but prob I’m just dreaming. Hard to get a good pic, but here’s another:

I wish whoever can do hobo nickels would start carving bag ladies with SBA$s. They'd be more attractive as Hobo-Bucks !

The OP coin is not the wide rim variety..... Cheers, RickO

The best way to tell... get a 1981 SBA and look at the 1 on 19. All 81s have the closer date. Having them side by side should clear it up as you move forward.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
