    It's there. Under "FIVE CENTS" on the reverse. Just quite small and weak, common for the date.

    Agreed the mintmark is very faint, might show better in-hand or with different lighting.

    The many “carbon spots,” especially on the obverse should be considered by all the graders involved.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Agreed. It almost looks like black mold is growing on both sides of the coin.
