Self promotion rules
Hello,
I was aggressively led to believe that self-promotion is not allowed here on this forum.
In viewing the posts by Pure Technologies I'm curious if anyone can enlighten me (with fact, not opinion) where I can find the published criteria for allowable self promotion.... or is it just whatever the moderator chooses to allow and/or disallow?

There's no such rule.

Perfect! Thank you so much for the guidance.
It’s long been an unwritten rule here. And often, when it occurs, you’ll see replies which include the word “spam”. I’ve noticed that forum members typically complain (or not) based on whether they like the content.

It depends on what you mean by self promotion. If you are selling something, it needs to be on the BST, typically. But if it's scholarship or some similar content, it had often been in the regular forum.
Non coin related spam is frequently reported and deleted.

The OP wasn't very specific, but for context, here is the thread:

I'll admit that I was a little struck by that other post/thread, but it seems to be a topic that is eagerly discussed among members.
I see no issue with the mentioned thread, since the technology is free and contributes a very useful tool to the hobby at large. It's simply a post that is telling members where they can access that free information.
Coin Photographer.
I remember years ago saying I bought a coin shop. Got called a spammer. Times change. People don't.
I agree there's an unwritten rule and threads can disappear or be closed.
From my recollection, before a thread is closed, there will often be increasingly numerous public (and presumably private) posts complaining about the thread/posters.
It's not actually "self" promotion. Just like CAC. JA never said a word. We did the hyping, promoting and buying / selling.
I see the PureTechnolgies" thing as another tool for the shed. And free tools are cool.
Agree. Free things are very useful.
Some of the things that got people in trouble in the past is repeated posting about things that require payment to access.
