PCGS Forum Rules and Guidelines - Updated 4/19/2021

Each of the below is a guideline for proper conduct on the forum. Should you violate any of the rules, you will receive one warning, this warning may come as a blanket warning to the entire thread. If the warning is ignored, you will be banned, the duration of the ban is at the discretion of the moderator that issued it. Moderators may delete or close any thread or comment at any time without warning if the content violates the below rules or if a moderator determines the removal of the content to be in the best interest of the hobby, the community or PCGS.

This is a PCGS forum paid for by PCGS and provided for PCGS customers and collectors to exchange information regarding US coins.

Posts must not contain inappropriate language in the form of cuss words, name-calling, sexual suggestion etc.
Posts must not contain libelous (accusatory, attacking) remarks concerning any individual, company, or other entity.
This is a community, as such, slightly off-topic threads are expected, however, topics such as politics or other "taboo" subjects are not permitted. Should the thread be deemed inflammatory, negative or violate any rules it will be deleted or closed at the moderator's discretion, without warning.
Posts promoting or bashing other grading companies or services are not allowed.
Your signature may contain multiple small images and/or links but must be limited to a single line. If you would like additional advertising space on this site please contact our Advertising Department.
Fundraising - PCGS is proud to allow posts seeking to fundraise for numismatic causes. These causes can include, members of the numismatic community that are experiencing hard times or programs such as research initiatives and YN classes. You may be asked to provide proof that the funds generated from this forum will be put toward the initiative outlined in the post. Unfortunately, we cannot allow non-numismatic related fundraising, charitable or otherwise. All fundraising posts must be approved by a moderator.
No alt, alternative or spare accounts. One account per member, no exceptions.
Users that choose to use the red "User Banned" profile image will be banned immediately and indefinitely.

These rules apply to the entirety of the CU Forum, including the PSA Sports Talk and Sports Card Forums bans received there will not be lifted by PCGS moderators.

Buy, Sell, & Trade Guidelines

We've received a lot of input on this and want to thank everyone for taking the time to help out fellow forum members with all the tips and advice.

The first thing we would like to point out is that this is a forum for collectors, and the biggest reason we exist is for collectors to come together and share information by asking and answering questions of folks with similar interests and hobbies. We did not set out to be a marketplace, eBay, or Etsy. We do, however, offer a Buy, Sell, and Trade thread for folks to connect and Buy, Sell, and Trade as they see fit.

Please understand what the Buy, Sell, and Trade part of the forum comes down to is COMMUNICATION. All we can do is advise how folks communicate in these situations. It is totally up to the two people discussing any particular transaction how that will end up. Collectors Universe assumes no liability in the event of either party failing to fulfill their commitment to the other party. Participants should realize there is always some risk when conducting financial transactions with an unknown party, and it is each party's responsibility to determine their own level of risk taking.

Here are some best practices:

Use a payment method that has buyer and seller protection.
Never pay by PayPal Friends & Family. It is worth paying the seller the extra 3% for protection and peace of mind.
Don't publicly share any personal information such as address, phone number, or email.
Don't interact or deal with any user that publicly shares any personal information such as address, phone number, or email.
Don't interact or deal with any user that is going through a third party.
Research the item you are interested in. If a user is offering a coin, look it up on other auction sites.
Use common sense, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

These are not rules, these are simply guidelines. You are ultimately responsible for the actions and decisions you make.
