Mint mark is a bit "weird" on this 1952 D quarter
Hello, everyone.
It's probably nothing but is there an issue with the mintmark on this piece or is it just a "sloppy mintmark"? I hope the photos are large enough to see. I'm still not great at enlarging but I gave it a shot.
Thanks!!! Piano 1

It has just had heavy wear and possibly a few hits along the way.
Can we get a close-up of just the mintmark?

The picture appears to show wear and perhaps a minor hit.... A better close up picture, as suggested above, would help. Cheers, RickO
Looks like one of the normal mintmarks (there is a small D and a large D) for 1952, with a hit on it. This is the one to look for on 1952-D quarters:
It is referred to as the 'Huge D'. It was only used in 1952 on two Washington quarter reverse dies and cannot be found on any other series or year. They are quite rare. The variety is listed in the Cherrypicker's Guide as FS-501. You'll know it when you find one- I've found several and that mintmark is massive.
As always, thank you all very much for your thoughts on the 1952 25-cent piece mintmark. My photo taking abilities are embarrassingly limited but I did try to get a better shot of the mintmark. I expect that this is just wear and "a hit" or 2 but again, your thoughts are appreciated.
