A secondary set

I’ve been slowly working on my Type Set for the last 6 years. The coins are getting more difficult to find and more expensive so I’ve decided to start a couple side sets. I wanted series that I could regularly find really nice coins to add to it on a semi-regular basis so something closer to ‘modern’. I landed on combining two series…

Here is my first buy! Working towards Jefferson FS coins and well struck Buffalo nickels. Found this nice FS Jefferson. I think it’s a nice color and the steps are relatively untouched by marks!

These series also have some nostalgia. In college (early 2000s), I started my coin collecting itch. I was known at the local bank as the ‘nickel guy’. I’d go through roughly 50 rolls or nickels a week and filled about 95% of a Whitman album and even found 2 Buffalos along the way (1 even with a legible date and probably XF40).

Jefferson nickels seem to be a relatively small niche in the collector world... That should provide ample opportunity to pick up nice specimens at reasonable cost. Cheers, RickO
