Hello, I currently use PCGS site to manage my collection. I uploaded pics and it works OK for me to try to keep track of things. Anyone else keep track of their collection in a better place?

Excel is hard to beat.

As a data architect, It hurts to see all the Excel advocates, I spend most of my time getting rid of Excel processes.
But yes, Excel is great, I've been thinking about developing an app similar to the set registry for all my album and raw coins, I do like the set registry quite a bit.
Understand why corporate types would drive excel out of the process ... however excel for our use is perfect.
So easy to set up, easy to customize and expand. Great for sorting and filtering (especially if inventory is large), Easy for custom reports if one wishes to have hard copies. In fact I link my data to a photo I imported into backup worksheets and if I bought the piece through a major auction house like Heritage, I add a web link back to their original listing
Heritage also has a inventory tool that u can be use with many features including generating reports

Excel, instagram, pcgs registry are all inventory tools I’ve used

Excel is good if you know to transform in database. Is hard to master this. Around are many database and soft for inventory collection. Me I build my own, base on Oracle. The Excel I use alternative till is certify or what I need. But if you need reports, will not work and you has to do manually (lost of time) They are soft build in database for coins free. Important is to has the coin, description and photos also. Excel is lost of time.

I've got a bound hardback notebook. Old school I guess. Simple to use, plenty of available space, no worries about data loss, and easy to transport and store with the collection. I use Excel at work sometimes and may consider using that as my database but really like holding a book.
Excel is a good way to manage a collection. At one time, I did organize with that program. My wife taught Excel and other programs at the college, so had ready help if needed. Now, it has fallen behind, and I am not motivated enough to maintain it. Might get back to it soon. Cheers, RickO
I have used Coin Elite all the way back to the floppy days. I'm pretty good with Excel but it would have taken me forever to make it do all that the Coin Elite software can do. I'm lazy.
For 50 years I have used a paper ledger to record every coin I buy. This same ledger became my load sheet. When I have a nice group of coins, I enter them in my system, all at one time. The software lets me create a template of common information. This makes the rest of the data entry go really fast.
Between the ledger, my system and a book drive, I feel safe from any data loss.
MY kids will inherit my collection, I'll let them worry about the inventory. I'll just enjoy it without all the maintenance.
I use the PCGS inventory app plus excel.
