Guessing these are cents.
It would be really weird to find a million pennies in an LA home.
Edit: Oops, this is a duplicate thread. Ignore.

Calling JOEYCOINS!
Now THIS is a story for the ages.

If the father collected these cents from circulation starting in the late 1940's or early 1950's I suspect that the marjority of them will be from 1934 to 1981. Those that are dated 1933 and earlier will likely be heavily circulated (VG 10 or less).
If the above is accurate, then the only way to obtain significant value for these 1,000,000 cents would be to find some coins that are highly sought after varieties.
Joeycoins would definitely be in his element if a truck showed up at his front door to deliver these cents to him. His post count on the forums would skyrocket; his fingers would become dirty and smelly; and his eyesight would suffer.
I wonder if there are any 1969-s DD in there..................humm

And he would find rare Wheaties, perhaps Indian Heads, maybe Flying Eagles, Wartime cents, errors, doubling, who knows what lies in the depths of those bags...
Perfect purchase for an OCD eremite!
During my time working for a dealer he was one of the biggest Cent buyers in NEOhio and we were paying three cents for pre-1959 Lincolns. He had a retired school teacher who worked part-time searching the coins. While many of the bags he bought had already been searched there were still quite a few good coins that we found over the years. I think the only date/mm that wasn't found was a 1914-D. The best coin I found was in a tubed lot we bought: a 1912 Matte Proof that the seller must have thought was an uncirculated coin. Sadly, it had a scratch in front of Lincoln's portrait.
My boss finally sold the bagged coins, around 1.2 million, to SilverTowne in Indiana. They showed up one morning with three vans and hauled everything away.
I certainly hope we get further information regarding this spectacular find. Such as who buys them or how disposed of.... and search results if performed. Cheers, RickO
I'm sure, whomever does select to buy, should start asking $9000!

I'm quite certain, the seller would be gratified to have anyone haul these away!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.On another site, offer was made at $ 25,000 and turned down.
Face value is $ 10,000.
If face value is $10k, and the seller turned down $25k after finding them for nothing, I don't know what to say.
Just take the money and don't look back
