Odd Denver Mint Kennedy Half Dollar In Red Resin

Uniface reverse side design incused and reversed. The size is almost the same as a regular half dollar but is extremely thin and light (28.5mm*1mm 1.13g). Its material appears to be red resin. It is semi transparent under light. To me it looks to be struck rather than casted due to the fact the surface is smooth and detail is strong. Not sure what this is, a token, hub trial or just a fantasy piece? Brought this from Ebay a few months ago for $15 dollars. Quite an unusual piece

Something made from a cast in epoxy resin in a garage? What did the eBay listing say?

Was it a “mold” to make counterfeits with?

It reminds me of some of my work with my hammer and leather strap, on the anvil. 😂

    Well, it's a reverse, negative of a 1964-D Kennedy.

I thought this piece is quite well made. The Ebay lister said he bought it from a local estate.

Welcome to the forum and I would like to share two things about eBay that may help.
    1. Sellers on eBay sometimes don’t tell the truth.
    2. Caveat Emptor
    3. Thanks 🙏

If I took a 1964D half dollar and poured a resin or epoxy on the back, let it dry, then pulled it off, it would look exactly like your mystery object.

The seller may or may not have purchased it ftom a "local estate" (yard sale?), but that really has no bearing on anything. It's just more smoke and mirrors to gin up a buyer's imagination.
