Yes, the GC coin is less “busy” on the surfaces and has a softer feel to the eyes. (If there’s a rim ding at 7’oclock obverse, let’s ignore that distraction for this discussion and focus on surfaces & hits).
I agree that I get it wrong all the time too. I would grade your coin a 62 and it should green sticker at a 62. The GC coin is accurately a 64.
Reason for all my replies here is to help you get a premium coin for your set. With 100,000 examples to choose from, I know you will find a better example.

64 CAC. I just bought a 64 CAC same year off GC the other day and it looks better than this coin. Unless you can get a deal, pass on this. Too much chatter for the grade.
This is one of the more interesting posts/quotes I’ve read in a while. Guy bought a better example in the same grade/sticker, and still guessed the grade of the OP coin correctly. Very good job. Not sure how much more clear the point has to be made that this coin is a C coin or subpar for the grade.
Most "interesting" to me is the people calling this coin "dreck" or "trash," when it is neither (if one is using rational, not silly, criteria).
Just because one has the desire and means to buy only the very, very best (and most expensive) coins does not mean that those at which he is turning his nose up are "dreck" or "trash."
Enjoy what you enjoy; that's fine; condemning very nice coins because you're a snob isn't fine.

It’s difficult for me to get excited about a common date mid uncirculated Liberty $20 regardless of what the grade is or how many stickers it has.
Not everyone is looking for rarities, but just a nice example of the type
Who said anything about stickers?
Funny you mention this because the coin is clearly a dog in a 64 holder. You must have been attracted to the old holder or the cac sticker, because the actual coin itself has nothing positive going for it.
If at the right price, I will take "All the Dogs" out their.
Everybody is entitiled to their own opinion, but calling it a DOG?

Hard for me not to like a coin like that, which is popping that much luster.
My guest is the pics are highlighting the abrasions more so than holding in hand.
I’ve got a couple of 20s that are exactly the same!
Peace!

@alaura22, if you like the coin, buy it. If it makes you feel good, buy it. That’s all that matters. If you don’t feel it’s worth the money and not a good deal, another one will certainly come along. Good luck!
I had a difficult time interpreting the photos and thought the coin was an average looking 63-64. The pictures probably don’t accurately depict the coin. Both PCGS and CAC have seen the coin in hand and CAC agrees with the grade. If you like the coin and it’s priced correctly then buy it. Keep in mind that this is a very common date and there’s no reason to compromise.

It is amazing how much you can learn about a person thru their posts. We should start a guess who is a hater thread
Absolutely beautiful coinby the way. Two top tier organizations felt it was a 64.

Diggin the dog here. It's gold. It's protected. It's approved. It's paid for. Seems like nothing but up from here. I like it. Chatter and all.
