I've got two that are pending right now with my credit card company. I buy them every year so even if it's not a good deal, I'll still get it to continue my silver eagle collection. I just like the coin, but not the mint!

I bought the Proof and am considering the UNC.
Do you collect both?
Good. When the dust settles, if everyone does what you did it will turn out to be a big winner!
This is one of the crazy ironies about the hobby. Everyone wants what they can't have, and no one wants what is easily obtainable.
This has the effect of sometimes turning frogs into princes once items go off sale, and relatively low mintage ASEs are always prime candidates for this phenomena. No guarantees, and you shouldn't buy anything you don't like. But, if you like ASEs and are canceling orders just because no one is talking about them and they aren't going to be a quick easy flip, you might end up costing yourself a low risk future winner.
Well put my brother. I’ve been buying em every year since 2016 and I just got tired of being able to buy a certified example at very close to release price. Now, that said, ofcourse will be a banner year because I’m going a different direction. 😂
Started last year. I buy one congratulations set (W proof) and a couple S proof for my set and my son now collects them. (49 and getting the bug. I’m so proud of him). My grandkids are young and I’m relieved to have my son to caretake the entire collection and learn what is going on with the hobby.
Thanks 🙏

I bought mine from Claudia at CoinAvisor weeks ago. I got the SP70 First Strike for 108.99 which is cheaper than buying the coin form the mint and having it graded at PCGS.
$76 each. Too high a price. For me anyway.
I started mine in 2006 and stopped them in 2020 due to pricing. Just sold all mine. Now my eagle collection is history. Lol

I remember when the ASE were about $10 each for the Unc.

That is NOT the burnished coin that was issued today. That is the bullion coin that was issued back in January. That is very expensive for a coin from a Green Monster Box.
@DJM I read burnished here but I’m missing it on the mints site for some reason
I remember when gold was $35 per ounce. That's the way things go with a combination of inflation and dealing with commodities.
IMO, anyone who buys these coins as an "investment" is fooling himself/herself/themself. It may be that the price holds up fairly well over time, but it's never going to be rare, or worth a great deal more than the melt price (meaning that I don't believe that it's ever going to have a high numismatic value).
I thing they're pretty in their Mint packaging. So I buy them. But I harbor no fantasy that I'll get rich doing it.
Done supporting the mint in how poorly they handle EVERYTHING. I'll stick w/ vintage.
I encountered the same issue.
That said, the Mint refers to 23EG as "uncirculated".
In their FAQ section, the Mint describes an "uncirculated" coin as:

Edited.
I remember $6.25 for them, and I was hesitant buying some years at that price decades ago
I don't collect the bullion versions, but that is actually very cheap for a FDOI MS70 when ungraded ones are going for around $45 each.
Not if you want a PCGS 70. It'll cost you $35 just for the coin and then you still have to submit it and hope you get a 70.
Not one I will be adding.... Stopped the 'series' the year they skipped one.... Now I just add special ones. Cheers, RickO
The crazy price increases by the mint stopped me from buying anymore.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
I bought mine from a large dealer PCGS 70 for $47.00.
A 2023? That's crazy cheap
Here’s the eBay run down. I assume we’re talking about roll editions. Not burnished. $47 with shipping seems about right 😗

This is going to be low mintage. Probably a key in the overall series (excepting the 07/08 reverse). In 100 years it will be the one you wished you have gotten.
For the rest of us not plann8ng to be around in 100 years, just one more ASE trinket that, when you go to cash out, will only bring 1/3 of what you paid for it.
