Big oops on the seller, glad the buyer understood the mistake.
I bought over 30 morgans on ebay in a single lot for $100 last year. The seller quickly messaged me and said it was a mistake. Can only dream of getting those coins for the accidental low price, but also have to give grace to the seller. Happens to the best of us!

That would have been a great price. Last time I found a great buy it now price the seller just cancelled my order and refunded my $ without any other communications. It was a raw VF 1875-P Trade $ for $454. It's a $1000-1400 coin.

Ahhh, too good to be true.
That's fair.
I am glad the buyer was understanding.
On a side note: Who remembers when these 1921 choice Peace dollars could be had for under $300.00?
Me.
I do, too.
On a sidenote, how can the seller renege? Isn’t it a binding contract??
Happens from time to time with both buyers and sellers…
It would take a person with questionable morals and ethics to try and hold someone's feet to the fire for what is an obvious typo. Imagine if you added an extra zero to an OBO.

I was thinking more in general that people sometimes back out of eBay transactions for less valid reasons such as finding something that they liked better afterwards or that the seller didn’t like the price that their auction realized.

Pricing mistakes and typos happen. If that is clearly what it is, then only a very bad person would try to hold them to it.
There are some that would though. Heck, some want the "rip" so bad that they will threaten legal action to get the item. There's a member on here, still, who got a rip, posted about it here, someone contacted the seller and they wanted to back out because it was worth a lot more, and the buyer threatened with a lawsuit (and posted about it here). When people didn't respond the way he wanted, he got the thread removed.
He got his coin but showed his colors.
That's why, the very few times I felt like I got something for a good price and the seller explained it was a mistake or something, I just said "ok". Deal was null and void. I don't need the money/deal that bad that I would feel like I screwed someone over.

No, I think ebay even allows sellers a window during which to cancel the transaction if they so choose. Same with buyers.

In retrospect; I completely agree with you. In cases, such as obvious mistakes, both buyers and sellers should be shown some leeway.
I was only asking. I certainly would not try to hold someone’s feet to the fire.

I would not hold a seller to a price when it was an obvious error... Just no sense to cause unnecessary financial pain to someone. Sure would not want it done to me... Just be nice, be fair... Cheers, RickO
There is something about this coin that turns me away. The strike may be good for a 64 but the toning and the surface area are both off for my liking. Maybe some better pictures would prove different, but it almost looks polished and some surface crust present. Is the CAC sticker scuffed up as well? The neck area of Liberty looks a little rough for my liking as well. I would call it a 63 based on the strike of the first curl. Maybe it's just flash glare or maybe there is something going on in that area of the coin. But that first curl says it all in grades or 64 -67.
Glad the listing worked out for the seller and buyer was understanding.

If I was the buyer I’d be holding my breath until it arrived. They haven’t walked away with it until it’s in their possession.
LOL...........the seller RELISTED. He left off the first 2........ Now the killer price is gone.........$2298 is the BIN price.

Don’t feel too bad. It’s back up again.

But he still wants his 17.50$ Shipping charges!

If fully insured it will cost more than 17.50 to ship.

Now Pat you're a good guy and you would tell them after you "bought it"!!

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Plus government Tax in that shipping.
Should message the seller and say the least they could do is offer free shipping.
